If you want a compact, rugged adapter with dual connectivity for TV and travel that prioritizes low latency and hands-free calling, choose FMIIFMS 5.4; if you need a sleek, automatic on/off device specifically optimized for long flights and seamless pairing with wireless earbuds, choose Loccess Airplane.
• FMIIFMS 5.4: Offers Bluetooth 5.4 for superior connection stability and low latency, featuring a built-in microphone for calls, but lacks the automatic power-saving features of its competitor.
• Loccess Airplane: Boasts an automatic on/off function for effortless use during long trips and a clean white design, though it relies on an older Bluetooth standard and has no dedicated call mic.
• Best for Hiking: Neither is a true hiking headset, but FMIIFMS 5.4 serves as the better portable audio bridge for outdoor activities requiring reliable stereo output to non-bluetooth speakers.
• Who each pick is for: Choose FMIIFMS 5.4 if you value technical specs like Bluetooth 5.4 and multi-device versatility; choose Loccess Airplane if you want plug-and-play simplicity for airplane entertainment.
The FMIIFMS 5.4 is engineered for users who demand the latest in wireless connectivity standards without sacrificing durability. At its core, this adapter utilizes Bluetooth 5.4 technology, which represents a significant step forward in signal stability and range compared to previous generations. For anyone who has ever struggled with audio dropouts or laggy video sync while watching movies on a plane or listening to music in a car, this newer protocol offers a tangible improvement. The device supports both transmitter and receiver modes, meaning it can wirelessly send audio from a non-bluetooth source like an old TV or an airplane seat jack to your headphones, or pull audio from a phone to play through a home stereo system.
One of the standout features here is the inclusion of a built-in microphone. This transforms the unit from a simple audio pass-through into a functional hands-free communication tool. You can answer incoming calls directly through the adapter, making it a versatile companion for business travelers or commuters who need to stay connected without fumbling with their phones. The control scheme is straightforward, relying on digital push buttons that are easy to locate and operate even when you are moving around or packing gear. The enclosure is made from Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), a material known for its toughness and resistance to impact, which gives me confidence that this black, compact brick can survive being tossed into a backpack or carry-on.
This product fits the profile of the tech-savvy traveler or the home audiophile looking to modernize legacy equipment. If you are someone who owns multiple devices—like an older television, a car stereo with only a 3.5mm AUX port, or a gaming setup—and you want to ensure your wireless headphones work flawlessly across all of them, this is the solution. However, it might not be the right fit for someone who hates pressing buttons every time they plug in a device. The lack of an automatic power-on feature means you have to manually initiate the connection sequence, which could be a slight inconvenience for those seeking total automation. Additionally, while the dimensions are small at roughly 1.23 inches by 0.55 inches by 2.48 inches, the physical bulk is slightly more pronounced than some ultra-minimalist dongles due to the internal components required for the advanced Bluetooth chip and microphone.

The Loccess Airplane takes a different approach, focusing heavily on user convenience and aesthetic simplicity. Its most defining characteristic is the "Automatic On/Off" feature. Unlike manual adapters that require you to press a button to wake up, this device detects when it is plugged into a power source or an audio jack and powers itself on instantly. This is particularly valuable for frequent flyers or anyone who wants a "set it and forget it" experience. When you slide it into an airplane's headphone jack, it immediately begins broadcasting, allowing you to pair your AirPods or other wireless headphones within seconds. There is no waiting for a light to blink or a sound to confirm readiness; the hardware handles the initiation process for you.
Design-wise, the Loccess Airplane opts for a clean white finish, which stands in contrast to the utilitarian black of its competitor. This choice suggests a focus on blending into modern cabin environments or personal setups where a bright, minimalist look is preferred. The device connects via a USB Type A cable for power and uses a 3.5mm AUX input for audio transmission, supporting stereo output to headphones or speakers. It is strictly designed as a 2-in-1 transmitter and receiver, capable of bridging the gap between analog audio sources and your favorite wireless earbuds. The warranty coverage is one year, indicating a manufacturer's confidence in the basic functionality of the unit.
This product is ideal for the casual user who values ease of use over advanced technical specifications. If your primary goal is to watch movies on a long-haul flight without dealing with complicated pairing sequences, this adapter delivers exactly that. It strips away the extra features like microphones or complex digital controls to focus on what matters most for travel: getting audio from the seat screen to your ears quickly. However, the trade-off is the reliance on an older Bluetooth version, which may result in slightly less robust performance in areas with high radio interference compared to the 5.4 standard found in the FMIIFMS model. Furthermore, because it lacks a built-in microphone, it cannot facilitate hands-free calls, limiting its utility to pure media consumption. It is best suited for those who will primarily use it as a passive audio bridge rather than an active communication hub.
• Best for battery life and stability → FMIIFMS 5.4, thanks to the Bluetooth 5.4 chip offering lower power consumption and better signal retention.
• Best for automatic operation → Loccess Airplane, which powers on and off automatically without manual intervention.
• Best for hands-free calls → FMIIFMS 5.4, as it includes a dedicated built-in microphone for clear voice pickup.
• Best for visual aesthetics → Loccess Airplane, featuring a sleek white finish versus the standard black industrial look of the FMIIFMS.
• Best for multi-room versatility → FMIIFMS 5.4, with its robust ABS build and support for both RCA and 3.5mm inputs for various home systems.
• Best for quick airport setup → Loccess Airplane, eliminating the need to hunt for a button press before pairing.
• Best for durability → FMIIFMS 5.4, utilizing a high-impact ABS casing designed to withstand the rigors of travel.
• Best for stereo-only needs → Both work well, but Loccess Airplane simplifies the process for pure audio streaming.
After weighing the technical advantages against the user experience factors, I would personally buy the FMIIFMS 5.4. While the automatic on/off feature of the Loccess Airplane is convenient, the leap in connectivity provided by Bluetooth 5.4 is too significant to ignore. In my opinion, the ability to make hands-free calls and the superior signal stability make it a far more versatile tool for any situation, including for hiking where you might need to connect to a portable speaker in a remote location without worrying about signal drops. The added durability of the ABS housing also gives me peace of mind when packing it in a bag alongside other gear. I recommend the FMIIFMS 5.4 for anyone who wants a future-proof adapter that does more than just stream audio.
Yes, since it uses a standard 3.5mm AUX input to transmit audio to your wireless headphones, it works with the vast majority of in-flight entertainment systems that offer an analog audio jack.
No, the Loccess Airplane does not include a built-in microphone, so it is designed strictly for listening to audio and cannot be used for hands-free calling.
The FMIIFMS 5.4 is generally better for home use because it supports both 3.5mm and RCA audio inputs, giving you more flexibility to connect to older stereo receivers compared to the single-input design of the Loccess.
Both are battery-powered and designed for extended use, but the FMIIFMS 5.4 offers Bluetooth 5.4 for potentially longer range and better connection stability in crowded environments like airports or busy train stations.
