Dr. S. MUTHU MARIAPPAN
Dr. Sivalingam Muthu Mariappan has been associated with Functional Materials and Energy Devices Laboratory, Department of Physics and Nanotechnology, SRMIST since 5 September 2023, as a Scientific Officer. Currently, He works in the field of "Plasmonics Hot Carriers Injection" and "Thermoelectrics". He has obtained Doctorate (Ph.D) from National Institute of Technology – Tiruchirappalli, India in 2018. His area of expertise during the doctoral tenure are optoelectronics properties and gas sensing behavior of graphene based materials. Also, he is experienced in fabricating nanomaterials through different physical and chemical routes. In SRM, he is experienced in handling Seebeck measurement system (ZEM-3), IV Solar simulator (Sciencetech Canada), LFA THERMAL conductivity measurement system (NETZSCH 467 HT), and IPCE (Sciencetech Canada) instruments. To be precise, Mariappan’s research is focused to improve the efficiency of photo-based reactions (water splitting, photocatalysts, photodectctors) through the plasmonic hot carriers extraction. Further, he is interested on carrier-phonon coupling and phonon properties of thermoelectric chalcogenides to improve the figure-of-merit.
