DRUMS SCORE

The DRUMS score is the sole score reported and recorded by DRUMS. This scoring system has been developed according to WGI Percussion standards. The score is calculated as follows:

30% Music Effect

10% Music Performance

10% Music Ensemble

30% Visual Effect

10% Visual Performance

10% Visual Ensemble

CLASSIFICATIONS

Percussion AA (Division III)

Entry-level classification of DRUMS.

QUALIFICATION:

  • First season in DRUMS, entering under Division III

IMMEDIATE QUALIFICATION:

  • Division III DRUMS score below 50

Percussion A (Division III / Division II)

Bottom-tier classification of DRUMS.

QUALIFICATION:

  • FMA promotion to Division II
  • FMA demotion to Division III
  • First season in DRUMS, entering under Division II
  • Last place in PO Championships for two consecutive seasons (does not apply if group is Division I)

IMMEDIATE QUALIFICATION:

  • PAA DRUMS score 50 and above
  • Division II DRUMS score below 60
  • Special Review

Percussion Open (Division II / Division I)

Mid-tier classification of DRUMS.

QUALIFICATION:

  • FMA promotion to Division I
  • FMA demotion to Division II
  • First season in DRUMS, entering under Division I
  • First place in PA Championships in last season competed (does not apply if group is Division III)
  • Last place in PW Championships for two consecutive seasons

IMMEDIATE QUALIFICATION:

  • PA Division II DRUMS score 85 and above
  • Division I DRUMS score below 70
  • Special Review

Percussion World (Division I)

Top-tier classification of DRUMS.

QUALIFICATION:

  • First place in PO Championships in last season competed (does not apply if group is Division II)
  • FMA Division I Medalist

IMMEDIATE QUALIFICATION:

  • PO Division I DRUMS score of 95 and above

SKIPPED SEASON(S)

ONLY FOR CLASSIFICATION PURPOSES: Every season skipped by a drumline will result in a five (5) point reduction of the group's last recorded DRUMS score.
