The FM-Éire project
When I considered, during the COVID confinement, transforming some musical compositions into a soundscape, I did not imagine on the one hand, the complexity of the project, on the other hand the pleasure felt when listening to the melodies created, brought to life by the traditional instruments of Irish music.
The adventure began in September 2023 and ended in June 2024. It first consisted of poaching a large number of musician friends that I meet regularly in the Provence sessions. I wanted to involve them in this shared music project to create a non-profit collective production, a sort of musical challenge through this style that we like so much and unites us.
But the journey has not been easy. Between the lack of availability of some (more than 40 melodies to learn !), the health concerns of others, the distance separating us... It was more of an obstacle course than a long quiet river... We had to manage the work sessions, recording days, availability schedules, communication… Knowing that we are all amateur musicians and therefore dependent on time-consuming professional activities, for the majority of the team who are still evolving in working life.
But no matter, everyone invested themselves rigorously and everyone did their best to contribute to the success of the collective.
So, of course, the quality of the result is not absolute but the technical defects are offset by the fervor and motivation shown by each of us.
The group of friends took real pleasure in participating in the creation of this album that goes off the beaten track. Some discovered studio recording for the first time and enjoyed this universe, made of technical rigor but also with the pleasure of making our instruments sing in perfect acoustic conditions (thank you Sébastien ! ).
Today, we are proud to present to you this album of 16 sets which has the originality of being accompanied by all the scores, all the midi files, all the ABC files and all the chord charts that we used. This is to enable their dissemination and sharing as widely as possible within the Celtic community.
As I wanted from the start, this album has no commercial purpose.
Also the protective license which accompanies my compositions allows me to play in public, to adapt, to arrange all the titles without any royalties, even as part of a paid distribution.
As for the album itself, if a small contribution is requested from you, it is only intended to cover the recording costs and the manufacturing costs necessary for the completion of this adventure, as friendly as it is enriching.
Who am I ?
A retired teacher, I have lived in Provence since 1995. I never learned music theory, only a few basics, acquired over the years while playing at an amateur level with friends. It was only after having left working life that I began to take an interest in musical writing and arranging pieces according to my tastes. Then, from experiment to experiment, I began to create a few lines of notes which became, over time (too quickly ! ), the melodies that you will be able to hear on this album.
I hope that listening to them will bring you as much pleasure and happiness as they have given me.
