Tutu’s Tidepool is a fully mobile touch tank designed and constructed by Sitka Sound Science Center’s staff. The mobile aquarium will make marine science more accessible and fun to a wide range of audiences.
Tutu (Liz Bodine) was a beloved grandmother that this touch tank is dedicated in memory of. Sitka Sound Science Center is grateful for Tutu’s family’s generosity and help in cultivating the love of exploration and discovery in future generations.
I was commissioned to design artwork depicting the undersea life of our norther pacific region on panels to surround the cart that holds the touch tank and equipment needed for operations. In my design I tried to highlight many of the staff’s favorite local organisms while keeping all four panels working as a continuous image flowing around the cart. I transferred my drawings onto a tablet and finished the pieces in procreate to the exact dimensions. The final designs were sent to a printing company to reproduce directly onto the plastic panels needed for the cart.

I was commissioned to create a new design for the Sitka Public Library. I found my inspiration from the resident Blue Heron that fishes just out front of the library.
You can pick up your new card or purchase sweatshirts and book bags at the library.

Tele Aadsen has worked the fishing industry for many years. Spending her summers out on the ocean and performing at fisher poets while ashore. From all her time spent on the waves she has developed an amazing ability to tell stories that capture your imagination.
What Water Holds is a series of Tele's essays diving deep into the intricacies of life. The questions she wrestles with holds weight with me as I am sure they will with any who read her words.
I was honored to have a small part in this project. Visit her website to learn more and purchase a copy today.

I was honored to be included in a grouping of Alaskan artists commissioned to portray some of Alaska's animals and plants listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act.
This project is meant to increase public awareness of the endangered species that live amongst us in an engaging and fun way. Please take a moment to look over the coloring pages offered and choose one for your self or a friend to color in.
