Snow (precipitation)- when precipitation doesn't melt before reaching the ground

Snow Accumulation- I have a lame picture of my yard, but this is much better

Overbank Flow- occurs during large storms or spring snowmelt events (this one is the latter)

Evaporation- the process of water being conveyed from Earth Surface to the atmosphere by transforming into water vapor

Through flow is the flow of water through the subsurface soil matrix. This area has been excavated, therefore exposing this throughflow through the ground. If it naturally flowed out of the ground at this point it would be known as return flow.

Base Flow- Flows from groundwater conditions and not storm events. All precipitation has fallen as snow and not melted, so therefore all flow is coming from groundwater (and dam releases)

Rain(precipitation)- Water vapor-> water through condensation in the atmosphere. It then falls to the surface of the land. Explaining what rain is does not make me feel like I am learning. This was taken at the SLC library on a rainy day in March. While you can't see droplets, the wet cobblestones and grey sky should be enough evidence.
