We use 3 AI Apps to improve our English skills especially in speaking and listening. The apps we use are Pi.ai, Smalltalk2me, and Speechace. We will share our experiences and reviews about the three apps.

Experience and review
using Pi.ai
Super conversational: This is the biggest thing. It doesn't just give you robotic answers. It tries to be empathetic, asks follow-up questions, and keeps the flow going. It actually feels like a conversation, which is awesome for practicing natural English.
Voice feature is legit: You can actually talk to it, and it talks back! This is huge for pronunciation and just getting comfortable speaking. The voices sound pretty natural too, not all stiff and robotic like some older AI.
No judgment zone: This is a big one for shy people. You can totally mess up your grammar or pronunciation, and Pi won't bat an eye. It's just there to listen and help you practice. No awkward silences or feeling embarrassed.
Always available: Whenever you feel like practicing, it's there. Middle of the night? Yep. During your commute? Sure. Super convenient.
It remembers (kinda): It tries to remember bits and pieces of your past conversations, which makes it feel a bit more personal over time. Like, "Oh, you were talking about your trip to Bali yesterday, how's the planning going?"
Slight drawbacks:
Not a structured course: If you're looking for a step-by-step curriculum, quizzes, and formal grammar lessons, Pi isn't really that. It's more free-form practice.
Accuracy sometimes a bit off: Because it's so conversational, sometimes it might "hallucinate" or give you slightly incorrect info, especially on factual stuff. For language learning, this isn't usually a deal-breaker, but it's something to keep in mind if you're asking about, say, historical dates.
Can get stuck in loops: Occasionally, it might just keep asking similar questions or repeating itself a bit.
Experience and review
using SmallTalk2Me
SmallTalk2Me is a bit more focused and serious, in a good way. While Pi is your chatty friend, SmallTalk2Me is like your personal English speaking coach at the gym. It's all about improving your actual speaking skills, with a heavy emphasis on feedback.
real-time, detailed feedback: This is its superpower. You speak, it listens, and then it tells you exactly where you messed up – pronunciation, grammar, fluency, even your vocabulary choice. It's like having a human teacher analyze your every word, but instantly. People love how specific it gets.
Great for specific goals: Preparing for IELTS? Got a job interview coming up? SmallTalk2Me often has modules specifically for these things. It gives you realistic scenarios to practice, which is super helpful for targeted improvement.
Tracks your progress: It shows you how you're improving over time. Seeing those graphs and scores go up can be a huge motivator.
Slight drawbacks:
Less "free-flowing" than Pi: It's more structured. You're usually going through specific exercises or scenarios, so it's less about just having a casual, open-ended chat.
Can feel a bit like a test: Because it's so analytical and gives scores, it might feel a bit more like an assessment than a relaxed conversation. This is good for improvement, but might not be what you want for every practice session.
Technical glitches (sometimes): Like any tech, there can be occasional hiccups or learning curves with the app itself.
Experience and review
using Speechace
Positive Attitude: Users, especially students, generally have a positive attitude towards Speechace. They find it "exciting, engaging, motivating, and fun."
User-Friendly Interface: The platform is often described as intuitive, easy to navigate, and visually appealing, making it accessible even for first-time users.
Convenience and Flexibility: The ability to practice anytime, anywhere, at one's own pace is highly valued. This is particularly beneficial for those with limited access to native speakers or formal language instruction.
Self-Learning Tool: It effectively serves as a self-learning digital medium, empowering students to take ownership of their pronunciation improvement.
Slight drawbacks
While it gives awesome feedback, it doesn't have the human touch. It won't understand why you're struggling with a particular sound (like if it's not in your native language), and it can't adapt its teaching style to your specific learning needs like a real person can.
Internet Glitches Can Be Annoying If your Wi-Fi is acting up, Speechace can get a bit cranky.
Mic Sensitivity Can Be a Pain Sometimes, it's super picky about how loud or clear your voice is. If your microphone isn't perfect, or you're not speaking directly into it, Speechace might struggle to "hear" you properly, leading to inaccurate feedback or no feedback at all.
