Fluent in Finance is a student-run organization dedicated to empowering immigrant and first-generation youth through financial literacy education. As daughters of two immigrant households, we recognized the struggles in personal financial education that grew out of misunderstandings of the American financial system. Thus, when given the opportunity to make an impact through GNS DECA, we took it, ran with it, and created this: Fluent in Finance.
Hi! I’m Chloe, a sophomore at GNSHS. As a first-generation American, promoting personal financial literacy is a personal mission to help increase the accessibility of educational resources for immigrants. I’m so excited to initiate Fluent in Finance and help build a supportive community centered around furthering financial proficiency. Connecting my passion for advocacy and economics, I hope to encourage all students to acquire vital skills and feel more confident as they begin entering the workforce.
Hi! My name is Jenny, and I’m a sophomore at GNSHS. Growing up in an immigrant household where financial literacy was never directly taught, I grew aware of the life skills I was lacking and began an effort to educate myself on the subject. Fluent in Finance will bridge the gap from unfamiliarity to understanding the basic dos and don'ts of financial literacy. I hope that through this initiative, crucial life skills are transferred and made less foreign to adolescents and teenagers getting ready to step into the real world.
