Legacy, by Josh Sarantitis and Eric Okdeh
Professional development is a key component of the C2L-PHL program. Teen Leadership Assistants must actively participate during in-branch meetings, in-person trainings, and self-directed learning in order to meet the obligations of this program.
Please contact LEAP staff at teenleaders@freelibrary.org if you have questions about these professional development requirements.
This semester, the orientation for Teen Leadership Assistants is online. You must view the TLA Orientation Video (44 minutes) and complete the TLA Orientation Quiz with a passing grade of 80%.
All in-person workshops will take place on the 4th Floor of the Parkway Central Library from 10am-1pm.
January 12th - Application Deadline for Spring Session
Spring Semester is February 8th through March 27th
February 7th - Opening Session at Parkway Central
March 21st - Closing Session at Parkway Central
NOTE: Please complete the check-in survey from Hello Insight regarding your experience with the C2L-PHL program! You can also find this link in your email. It should only take about 10 minutes. Your input will help shape the future of the C2L-PHL program.
Choose your own professional development track this semester. Complete one activity per week until you achieve BINGO!
For a professional development course that includes a variety of different topics, you can follow paths for new TLAs, returning TLAs, or for college bound Juniors and Seniors. Or, you can choose to focus on specific topics such as sharpening your career readiness, improving your financial literacy, or developing stronger study skills.
To complete an activity, click on the BINGO! square and follow the instructions on the worksheet. Hyperlinks are in green text. Discuss what you did and learned with your Supervising Librarian. Ask them to sign your board when you get BINGO!
Bring your signed BINGO! board to the closing in-person session on March 21st for an additional reward and to have your name entered into a raffle drawing!
Self-directed professional development should take you about 1 hour per week throughout the C2L semester. Completion of this portion of your professional development must take place outside of your scheduled work time with LEAP youth, but should preferably take place at your assigned library.
