Deathwear for the Earth 🌿
Sustainable, floral, and herbal burial fashion designed to return nutrients to the soil.
Future Compost is an eco-activist brand creating naturally dyed, floral, and herb-infused designs aimed at raising awareness for green burial. Our current offerings help generate funds and support for Ash Tree Green Burial, a nonprofit organization dedicated to opening Fresno County's FIRST green burial cemetery.
Our mission is to educate communities on environmentally conscious end-of-life practices and to inspire a future where sustainable deathcare is normalized.
The FLOWWEIRD-inspired style infuses our pieces with whimsical, botanical, and ritualistic elements that reflect the cycles of nature and life.
Awareness Designs: Wearable art and accessories that spark conversation about green burial and sustainable end-of-life choices, inspired by the FLOWWEIRD aesthetic.
Fundraising Collaborations: A portion of proceeds goes directly to support Ash Tree Green Burial and future sustainable burial projects.
We are behind the scenes, working hard to help develop deathwear garments—gowns, shrouds, and wraps made from natural fibers, naturally dyed, and infused with flowers and herbs—designed to return nutrients to the soil and fully embrace eco-conscious burial practices. All designs will continue to be inspired by FLOWWEIRD’s magical, floral, and celestial style, making each piece a wearable homage to the earth.
Future Compost works to raise awareness and provide resources for sustainable burial practices.
Topics we focus on:
Environmental benefits of green burial vs. traditional burial
Sustainable materials for end-of-life fashion
Workshops, pop-ups, and community events supporting green burial
Green burial is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional burial practices, emphasizing minimal environmental impact. In California, green burials are legal statewide. Bodies can decompose naturally in green burial because they are in direct contact with the earth and not contained in burial vaults. Cemeteries must follow regulations concerning proximity to water sources, and unembalmed bodies pose no contamination risk.
