Florida Homeschool Evaluations
Welcome to FL Homeschool Evaluations!
This is your home for easy online Homeschool Evaluations. All evaluations are done either electronically or remotely from the comfort of your own home! Evaluations are easier than you think, following the Florida Statutes for homeschool (1002), you need to provide a portfolio for evaluation. This portfolio needs to contain the following:
1. A log of educational activities that is made contemporaneously with the instruction and that designates by title any reading materials used.
2. Samples of any writings, worksheets, workbooks, or creative materials used or developed by the student.
This can be transmitted electronically for evaluation, only requiring a short phone call to speak with the student, or it can be done over a video call, showing the work without requiring material to be sent.
The state is purposefully vague on the requirements of the portfolio, but our recommendation is a few assignments from the beginning of the year and the end of the year from all subject areas covered. Also, a few pictures of extra-curricular activities can be included as well. You DO NOT need to include all work done by your student, it is only necessary for your "student’s demonstration of educational progress at a level commensurate with her or his ability".
Once your portfolio has been evaluated, you will receive a letter from your evaluator indicating that they have passed. You can forward this directly to your school district.
Evaluations can either be done digitally over email with a brief phone discussion later, or through a video chat, utilizing Zoom, Google Hangouts, or Skype.
