Sub-Divisions

The goals and objectives of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit are accomplished through enforcement and education for drivers on the road. Troopers in this unit will conduct driver/vehicle safety inspections; post-crash inspections; weight, size and registration enforcement; compliance investigations; new entrant safety audits; hazardous materials carrier assessments; traffic enforcement; drug/firearm interdiction and public awareness education.

Our mission is as follows:

- Reduce the number and severity of commercial motor vehicle related crashes.

- Protect the state’s highway, bridge systems, tunnels, and roadways from accelerated damage caused by debris, unroadworthy vehicles, and overweight commercial vehicles.

- Remove dangerous and unroadworthy motor carriers, drivers, and vehicles from our highways.

Subdivision Requirements:

- Must be at least a Trooper First Class or higher to be eligible. 

- Must have basic knowledge of Florida Moving and Non-moving violations as well as general traffic laws.

- Must have great communication skills to effectively establish positive relationships with drivers on Florida roadways and the Florida Highway Patrol.

MUST HAVE 7 HOURS OR MORE A WEEK (1 HRS A DAY)-(NOT COUNTING BREAKS)

MUST BE A TROOPER FIRST CLASS OR HIGHER

MUST HAVE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TICKETS

MUST USE CORRECT GRAMMAR

MUST NOT HAVE ANY WARNINGS OR STRIKES PRIOR TO APPLYING
