Drugs And Their Deadly Effects
There are many drugs in use around the world - and they can all cause life-threatening damages both mentally and physically. Some of them are more dangerous than others, and others are much more addictive than some of their counterparts.
Although many people believe that marijuana is a harmless drug, it can actually be lethal to those who abuse it.
It can cause mental problems, such as anxiety, depression and also paranoia. When marijuana has been abused for a long of time, it can affect the person's blood pressure, which can lead to serious heart problems. It can also cause lung disease and cancer, too.
Heroin is probably one of the most famous drugs out there - and it's also extremely dangerous to consume. It is both very addictive and also quite expensive, too.
The liver and kidneys of somebody who abuses heroin can get diseases and they can also suffer from heart attacks and other heart related problems. Heroin is also able to cause severe damage mentally to those who take it, too.
Krokodil (or krocodil) is a very dangerous drug for many reasons. Not only is it cheap, it also has the potential to be extremely harmful and very addictive. In fact, it's very similar to heroin; but much worse.
It is injected into a vein and the surrounding skin almost instantly becomes green and scaly, much like crocodile skin (hence the name). However, after long-term abuse, it turns the skin grey and can cause it to peel away. In extreme cases this can actually cause such extensive damage that it can reveal the person's bones underneath and users have been reported to have rotted to death as a result.
This drug is usually abused by poor people and also heroin addicts, as it is a much cheaper version. The ingredients used to make krokodil are codeine, paint thinner, the red phosphorous from matchbox strike pads, hydrochloric acid, iodine and gasoline. This creates the deadly liquid which is injected by addicts.
Cocaine is another famous yet deadly drug.
Many people die from cocaine overdoses, as it's quite easy to take too much during use. The leading cause of death due to overdose is a heart attack and the chance of this happening is increased when it is mixed with other drugs or alcohol. When other substances are combined with cocaine within the human body, they can fuse together to produce a harmful chemical called cocaethylene - and this can cause very serious side effects and reactions that can prove fatal.
