Hey! I am Florian Babisch, a mathematical physicist interested in many areas, including differential geometry, the calculus of variations, and the analysis of nonlinear partial differential equations. I am doing my PhD in mathematics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) under the supervision of Prof. Wolfgang Reichel. In my research, I am working on nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs). In particular, I am working on the coupling of Maxwell's equations with the Schrödinger equation and the analysis of the resulting nonlinear system of PDEs using variational methods.
I earned both my bachelor’s degree in theoretical physics and my master’s degree in mathematical physics at the University of Tübingen. My master’s thesis provided a new proof of the classical Minkowski inequality for convex domains using a divergence identity, while in my bachelor’s thesis, I analyzed a method for foliating spacetime where leaves may develop kinks and corners and thus are no longer smooth.
Beyond all of this, I am still very much interested in mathematical relativity, quantum theory, and theories that unify the two.
