Share Ideas and Spread The Word
More voices mean more change. So whether you start an awareness club at your school or hang up posters around your city, sharing a message of concern and passion is one of the most effective ways to get others involved and aware.
Reduce
By consuming less, we contribute less to pollution. It's a simple concept, but it's extraordinarily important. You can reduce your plastic waste by adopting new shopping habits. For example, by purchasing second-hand clothing, plastic packaging and tags aren't used.
Reuse
Much like Flora, we want less plastic in our waters, and to get there, the most direct root is to find ways to have less plastic and waste leaving our homes. You can take action on this by using reusable products like tote bags, metal water bottles, and beeswax wrap. If you already have plastic freezer baggies or plastic grocery bags, you can wash and reuse them.
Resize Your Footprint
Reducing and reusing plastics are just a few ways to improve your footprint (the size of your carbon emission contribution to the planet). You can also reduce this footprint by walking or biking instead of driving, swapping meat for legumes, and turning off lights and electronics when they aren't in use.
Refresh Your Perspective
Reading, learning, listening - these are all ways to gain a new understanding of the issues facing our planet. Understanding the impacts of deforestation, pesticide use, pollution, and global warming is important. The more we know, the more we can help make a difference and protect mother earth and her ecosystems.
