I created a series of photographs based on women's empowerment. My goal was to create portraits portraying powerful female energy. This was achieved in several ways: First, I posed the subject in a powerful stance and asked the subject to look directly into the camera lens, confronting the viewer. Second, I used minimal props in order to put the focus on the subject. Working in the studio setting also allowed me to strip away visual elements that might distract from the subject. Lastly, I need to have a personal connection with the subject in order to create strong images, in this series it is someone I love. My goal was to show the subject how I see her--independent and beautiful.
