What I did today:
Today I had a meeting with my Professor and presented to him my progress as well as discussed the geometric parameters. He informed me that initial values for the nanorod lengths and the gaps between them were unrealistic. They were too small to be made be properly and accurately made by e-beam lithography (EBL). Additionally, these minute dimensions required an extremely fine mesh size to ensure accuracy, which would have led to excessive and impractical computational costs for the simulation.
To address these issues, I adjusted the nanorod dimensions to align with more realistic and experimentally achievable values. I also changed the mesh size in an attempt to strike a balance between obtaining accurate results and maintaining a manageable computational load. After implementing these changes, the entire simulation was successfully re-run. While still computationally intensive (requiring 17 hours to complete) the updated model now provides data that is more representative of what can be expected from a physical experiment.
What I plan to do tomorrow:
I plan to analyze the resulting graphs and start writing a paper report regarding the code I have written and its use.
I will be presenting my report on Wednesday of next week.
