What I did today:
For the past couple of days, I have been focusing on saving the plots made. I wrote a script that now exports every graph automatically, tags it with a descriptive filename and drops it into its corresponding folder, thus systematically organizing simulation plots. A significant challenge was creating a logical and intuitive hierarchical folder structure to store the vast number of generated plots. The system was designed to automatically sort files based on the key simulation parameters being swept. Most plots, such as the Transmission, Reflection, and Absorption (TRA) graphs, are now saved in a nested directory structure. The hierarchy is organized first by device length, then gap length, and finally by cavity order. This ensures that every plot is uniquely located based on its specific simulation parameters.
The workflow also accommodates plots that summarize results across a parameter sweep and do not fit the primary structure. For instance, comparative plots like "Absorption vs. Cavity Order" are automatically saved to a separate, dedicated folder, allowing for clear top-level analysis.
The one section I am still having trouble with is the E-field vs. Time (when the flagtimecalculation = 1). This section had errors that I am not sure how to fix and need to consult my grad student about.
What I plan to do tomorrow:
I plan on continuing to optimize my code and double-checking that what I have done has been working like how I want.
Notes for the future / Notes about working in France:
Today we had our lab BBQ. We shared breakfast and lunch together and just spent time outside. I joined many a card game and random conversations. I even got roped into giving love life advice while I was walking up to get food. Everyone was super welcoming and inclusive.
