What we did:
This weekend we decided to do a day trip to Mont Saint-Michel. This trip was full of adventures and a lot of walking.
We started on our trek from the train station to Mont Saint-Michel by commencing on a 3 hour hike, that swiftly became 4 hours when we decided to cross through the sand and mud instead of the conveniently built bridge. When we got there we ran through town and to the abby to see the Monastery above. Shortly after we had to run back down to catch our 5:25 bus. As we sat waiting for our bus that never came, we slowly but surely came to the conclusion that we were stuck in Mont Saint-Michel.
We eventually found a hotel for two (whom we decreed was for 5) and set off to find food. We had some really good pizza and explored the streets of Mont Saint-Michel at night.
Some Pictures:
Hannah and I decided to take the unconventional path and cross like the knights once did!! Instead of crossing the using the bridge, we took advantage of the low tide and attempted to walk across. Little did we know we would face our ultimate adversary, QUICKSAND!
With the scars of battle (mud and sand all over us) we had finally triumphed and successfully made it across, arriving at Mont Saint-Michel at last.
Late at night, we decided to go on a walk around town. The view of the illuminated monastery and dimly lit streets as well as the nighttime sky looking out into the sea was un like any other. The streets were silent except when filled with our laughter.
