What I did today:
I finished my line by line analysis of the Ansys Lumerical code I've been annotating. I have started modifying the code but have spent a lot of time simply learning Ansys Lumerical syntax.  This was a very long, strenuous process, as I have never coded in this language. Moreover, I had to understand the specifics regarding what and how we were creating and measuring the gold nanorod inside the hybrid cavity. Previously, when I worked with Ansys Lumerical, I had created simulations via the Ansys Lumerical user interface. Now I am interacting with the code directly. This makes it harder to visualize, but allows for more functionality. This also means that there is a steeper learning curve.  

What I plan to do tomorrow:
I plan to continue modifying the code in order to add a third sweep across the cavity height. 

Other:
There was a massive heat wave in Paris with temperatures in the high 90s all day and night, reaching a high of 98 in the afternoon, and I did not plan ahead. I ended up going to 5 different stores looking for fans. The first 4 told me that they had been completely sold out since the prior evening, but luckily as I was going to get dinner I stumbled upon a small store where I was able to find one.
