I first learned of Runner ducks when I saw 3 tall, upright ducks run across an urban backyard during Portland's Tour de Coops in 2009. They were the wildest looking poultry I'd ever seen! I'm still very fascinated by them and excited to be offering them in our selection of ducklings. Runners tend to be nervous birds although there is some evidence that temperament may be tied to feather color, with the Blues and Blacks being the most calm. These cuties lay between 100-180 eggs/year of various colors. Runners are in the light weight class, weighing between 3 1/2 to 4 lbs at maturity. Due to their sleek profile, Runners are incredibly mobile making them very efficient foragers. Slug problem? Not anymore!
