Fall into Community – Welcome Back to School!
The Hurley-Carter Farm house at 411 Feather Rock Drive in Rockville is an Italianate-style farmhouse. It was built in 1870 to replace an earlier home at Henry Hurley's dairy farm, which was destroyed by fire. The center hall house has a shallow center gable with decorative brackets that are characteristic of the Italianate style.
The Hurley family called its dairy Flint Ledge Farm. The Carters were related to the Hurley family through marriage, and at the time of the farm's historic designation in 2000, it had been in the same family since 1852. In addition to the historic farm house, the community adds Hurley Avenue, Carter Field, and of course, Flint Ledge Estates.
