1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Flick! By accessing or using our mobile application (“App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Flick.

2. Description of Service
Flick is a news and social opinion app that provides:
News Features: - AI-summarized news articles from various sources (TechCrunch, BBC, The Hindu, etc.) - Personalized news feeds based on categories (Tech, Business, Sports, Health, Science, World, Entertainment) - “For You” feed based on your reading preferences - Article saving, liking, and sharing - Region-based content (India, US, Global) - In-app browser to read full articles
Social Features: - Flicks — Short opinions (up to 280 characters) on any news article - Comments — Reply to Flicks and discuss with other users - Follow — Follow other users to see their Flicks in your feed - Social Feed — Mixed feed of Flicks from people you follow + news - User profiles with follower/following counts
Other: - User profiles and preferences management - Push notifications for breaking news (optional) - Guest mode — Browse news without an account (read-only; social features require sign-up)

3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Flick. By using the App, you represent and warrant that: - You are at least 13 years of age - You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms - You will comply with all applicable laws and regulations

4. User Accounts

4.1 Account Creation 

• You must provide accurate and complete information during registration 

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password 

• You are responsible for all activities under your account 

• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  
  

4.2 Guest Mode
You may use Flick without an account (“Continue as Guest”) to browse news. Guest mode is read-only. To write Flicks, comment, follow users, or save articles, you must create an account.

4.3 Account Security 

• Choose a strong, unique password 

• Do not share your account credentials with others 

• We are not liable for losses due to stolen or compromised passwords 

4.4 Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if: - You violate these Terms - You engage in fraudulent or illegal activity - You harass, abuse, or harm other users - Your account has been inactive for an extended period
You may delete your account at any time through the app settings.

5. User Conduct
You agree NOT to: - Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose - Violate any laws in your jurisdiction - Harass, abuse, bully, or harm other users - Post hate speech, threats, or content that incites violence - Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or compromise the App - Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the App - Spread malware, viruses, or malicious code - Impersonate another person or entity - Collect or harvest user data without permission - Post spam, misleading content, or impersonate news sources in Flicks or comments

6. Content and Intellectual Property

6.1 Our Content

• All news articles are sourced from third-party publishers (TechCrunch, BBC, The Hindu, etc.)

• Summaries are generated using AI and are for informational purposes only

• The Flick app design, code, and branding are owned by Flick

• You may not copy, modify, or distribute our proprietary content

6.2 Third-Party Content

• News articles are the property of their respective publishers

• We do not claim ownership of third-party content

• We aggregate and summarize publicly available news

• Original articles are linked and attributed to their sources

6.3 User-Generated Content (Flicks, Comments)

• You retain ownership of your Flicks and comments

• You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, store, and distribute your Flicks and comments within the App

• You are responsible for the content you post

• You must not post offensive, illegal, defamatory, or copyrighted content

• We may remove content that violates these Terms or our community standards

• Your profile information (username, profile picture, bio) is displayed publicly to other users

7. Push Notifications
We may send you push notifications for breaking news. Notifications may be targeted to users who have not opened the app in a certain period. You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings. We do not send marketing or promotional push notifications.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND.
We make no guarantees that: - The App will be error-free or uninterrupted - News summaries are 100% accurate (AI-generated content may have errors) - The App will meet your specific requirements - All news sources will always be available - User-generated content (Flicks, comments) is accurate or appropriate

9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
We are NOT liable for: - Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages - Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities - Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the App - Third-party content or external links - User-generated content (Flicks, comments) posted by other users - Any decisions made based on news articles in the App
Our total liability shall not exceed $100 USD or the amount you paid us (which is $0 for a free app).

10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Flick, its developers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from: - Your violation of these Terms - Your violation of any law or third-party rights - Your use or misuse of the App - Your Flicks, comments, or other user-generated content

11. News Content Disclaimer
Important Notice: -
News articles are for informational purposes only - We do not verify the accuracy of third-party news sources - Summaries are AI-generated and may contain errors - Always consult original sources for critical information - We are not responsible for the content of linked articles - News content does not constitute professional advice (legal, financial, medical, etc.)

12. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of changes by: - Updating the “Last Updated” date - Posting a notice in the App - Sending an email notification (for significant changes)
Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Termination

14.1 By You
You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time.

14.2 By Us
We may terminate or suspend your access immediately, without notice, for: - Violation of these Terms - Fraudulent or illegal activity - Abuse of the service or other users - Any other reason at our sole discretion
Upon termination: - Your right to use the App ceases immediately - Your data may be deleted (subject to our Privacy Policy) - Provisions that should survive (liability, indemnification) remain in effect

15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of India.

16. Dispute Resolution

16.1 Informal Resolution

16.2 Arbitration
Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration, rather than in court, except where prohibited by law.

16.3 Class Action Waiver
You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis only, not as part of a class action.

17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.

18. Entire Agreement
These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Flick regarding the App.

20. App Store and Google Play

20.1 Apple App Store

• These Terms are between you and Flick, not Apple

• Apple is not responsible for the App or its content

• Apple has no warranty obligations

• You must comply with Apple’s App Store Terms of Service

20.2 Google Play Store

• These Terms are between you and Flick, not Google

• Google is not responsible for the App or its content

• You must comply with Google’s Play Store Terms of Service

21. International Use
The App is controlled and operated from India. We make no representation that the App is appropriate or available in other locations. If you use the App from outside India, you are responsible for compliance with local laws.

By using Flick, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
