He has also taught English online to international students to help them improve their vocabulary and confidence.

Early Life and Education

He was born in Rogers and raised in Bentonville, Arkansas. His interest in communication led him to attend the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. In December 2017, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in English and Journalism.

While studying there, he participated in student media at the university’s news outlet. He worked as a field producer, assistant producer, and lead producer. His tasks included scheduling and conducting interviews, editing video content, mixing audio through Adobe Premiere Pro, and designing graphics such as lower-thirds, on-screen text, and full-page visuals. He also coordinated live broadcasts with the production team to ensure the content aired clearly and smoothly.

Early Career in Broadcasting

Before finishing his degree, he began gaining professional experience in broadcast news. In the summer of 2017, he completed an internship at KNWA (NBC)/Fox 24 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

During the internship, he wrote VOSOT and pacer stories, assisted with live shots, and observed producers to understand the process of organizing news shows. He also filmed b-roll for packages and logged interviews.

After the internship, Fletcher continued working at the university news outlet as a reporter. In that role, he produced news packages, conducted on-camera interviews, and gained experience in live reporting.

Transition to Professional Roles

After graduating, he started working at Hearst Television’s 40/29 station in Rogers, Arkansas. In September 2018, he began as a camera operator. His responsibilities included coordinating live newscast shots, clipping videos, and posting content to social media.

By December 2018, he moved into the position of associate producer. In this role, he created newscasts using ENPS producer software, designed graphics through the HATMOS graphics engine, and helped produce live shows.

Over the following years, Fletcher took on additional duties. In June 2019, he worked again as a camera and audio operator, maintaining sound equipment and supporting live broadcasts. By July 2020, he had advanced to the position of weekend director. In that role, he directed live broadcasts using manual switchers, rolled and cut videos in preview, and managed transitions, stingers, and graphic overlays.

In December 2022, he joined KFSM-TV (Channel 5) News in Springdale, Arkansas, as a news producer. His work included producing morning shows with ENPS software, organizing rundowns to keep stories clear, and responding to breaking news. He also edited video packages, worked with anchors, reporters, and directors, and included user-generated content to support community engagement.

Shift to Independent Contracting and Community Engagement

In August 2023, he moved from full-time broadcast work to independent contracting and began working with the Literacy Council of Benton County in Arkansas. In this role, he films and edits videos for promotional and fundraising efforts. He also uses Laces software to manage tutor-student matching and volunteers as a tutor.

This work allows him to assist immigrants and other community members in building literacy skills needed for daily life in the United States. He teaches reading, writing, and pronunciation to help learners improve their fluency and confidence in English. Fletcher's community involvement also includes volunteering at local churches and donating to the Bentonville Islamic Center to support community organizations.

Teaching and Language Instruction

Alongside his work in broadcasting and contracting, he served as an online English instructor through iTalki from March 2021 to November 2022. In that role, he developed lesson plans designed for international students and helped them improve pronunciation, expand vocabulary, and gain confidence in speaking English.

Skills and Expertise

During his career, he has developed a range of skills in media production. He is familiar with several industry platforms, including ENPS, Edius, Chyron Camio, Axis graphics engines, HATMOS graphics, and Media OS.

Fletcher's technical experience includes camera operation, audio management, video editing, live broadcast direction, graphics creation, and content production. He also works with production teams, anchors, and reporters to complete projects under deadlines. His work often requires adapting to breaking news situations, solving technical issues, and managing live broadcast tasks with steady focus.

Hobbies and Personal Interests

Outside of his professional and volunteer activities, he enjoys creative writing, reading, and playing chess. Creative writing allows him to explore storytelling; reading helps him understand different viewpoints; and chess strengthens his planning and problem-solving skills.
