Creating a Nation

Unit Purpose:

The nation has now broken all of its ties with Great Britian and is now ready to venture out on its own. Now the question is who will rule in this new government...will all the power be with the states? Will there be a new King? Who is in charge and what is their role? All of these questions and more are what the first government of the American people will hope to answer and improve as they become a part of the ever changing world. In this unit we will use our historical thinking skills to look at primary source documents of the time, think about the differences and similarities between the government then and the government today, and talk about the accomplishments of the first five presidents to take office.
