The purpose of this unit is to provide students with the idea of how each of the 13 colonies were settled. This will mark the beginning of the United States as we know it. We will also cover the interaction of the colonists with the Native Americans as they began to invade the land that had belonged to their ancestors.

- d) describing colonial life in America from the perspectives of large landowners, farmers, artisans, merchants, women, free African Americans, indentured servants, and enslaved African Americans
