Fleetwing is a 32′ Kauri carved planked hull, built at St Mary’s Bay, Auckland at the Collings & Bell yard, launched September 1920. She has spent the majority of her life in the Marlborough Sounds as a commuter and work launch. Her original engine was a 4 cylinder 40-55hp Van Blerck with 3 plugs per cylinder and 24v electric start. Swept volume was 570 cu in (just over 9 litres).
In 2010 she was located at Paremata harbour (Porirua), I have no idea when she arrived there from the Marlborough Sounds. Someone may also know when her (awful) deckhouse was refitted and painted Aramoana Green, sometime in 2010 she was purchased and moved to Kakaramea in Taranaki.
First seeing her in mid 2016 where she was looking in a sorry state, I purchased her early 2017 and finally relocated her to Wanganui mid November 2017.
On deciding to move early 2019, Fleetwing was put up for sale, purchased a day later. When relocated She was trucked into her new owner's boat yard in Auckland secretly under the cover of darkness.
After a total refit and spectacular new paint job Fleetwing became a new envy of the Waitamata Woodys .... for more info by Fleetwing's new owner Cameron Pollard select link below:
