The Creek Trail is infested with Cesar weed (Urenal lobata). My partner and I wanted to take the opportunity of the National Public Lands Day event to help the Creek Trail at Silver Springs State Park to become more manageable. With the help of our volunteers and Project R.O.A.R. and FLCC staff member, we managed to clear close to an acre!
Every year in November, Silver Springs State Park hosts Ocali Country Days, where visitors can see how it was like in the 1800s! Volunteers dress up in the garb of the past and show visitors old cabins, pottery kilns, sugar cane mills, and old army weapons! I had the opportunity to volunteer for the event and took some pictures.
