This Privacy Policy describes how FlatCart ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our App:

A. Personal Information

When you create an account or use the App, we may collect:

• Email Address: Used for authentication and account management via Firebase Authentication.

• Display Name: Used to identify you to other users within your "Flat" or group.

• Profile Picture: We collect and display your profile picture or avatar to visually identify you to other users within your "Flat" or group.

B. User-Generated Content

• Expense Data: We store the details of expenses you add, including amounts, descriptions, dates, and how they are split among group members. This data is stored securely in Firebase Firestore.

• Receipt Images: We collect and store images of receipts that you choose to upload to the App for expense verification. These images are stored securely in Firebase Cloud Storage.

C. Device and Usage Information

The App uses Google Firebase and Expo as our backend infrastructure. Data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit. We collect Push Notification Tokens from your device to deliver push alerts. Service providers may collect technical information such as IP addresses, crash reports, and diagnostic data to maintain service stability and security.

D. Notifications

Notifications may include minimal user information, such as the name of a flat member who added, modified, or reverted an expense, split, or settlement, as well as flat invitations and updates.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To provide the App's core functionality: Authenticating users, storing expense records, displaying receipt images, sending notifications, and calculating shared costs.

• To manage your account: Ensuring your data is synchronized across devices.

• To facilitate collaboration: Allowing you to share expense information with other members of your group.

We process your information to provide the services you request and to fulfill our contractual obligations. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties, except for the Firebase services used to operate the App.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We use third-party services to operate and manage the App:

Google Firebase

We use Google Firebase to store and process your data. Firebase provides backend services such as:

• Firebase Authentication: For user sign-in and account management.

• Cloud Firestore: For storing structured data (expenses, user profiles).

• Cloud Storage for Firebase: For storing receipt images.

Expo

4. Advertising

We do not display ads in our App. We do not collect identifiers for advertising purposes (IDFA or AAID).

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information, expense data, and receipt images for as long as your account remains active.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at flatcartapp@gmail.com. Upon verified request, we will delete your personal data from our systems within a reasonable timeframe.

6. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

7. Security

We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information and we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. Our data is stored securely using Firebase's infrastructure. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
