Multi_Software (“we,” “our,” or “us”) provides UniWord, a commercial mobile application for learning vocabulary and languages. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, disclosed, and protected when you use the UniWord app, the UniWord website (including https://www.uniword.app), and related services.
UniWord is intended for users aged 13 years and older. By accessing or using UniWord, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy.
UniWord can be used in Guest Mode without creating an account. Google Sign-In is available to save learning progress, synchronize data, and restore supported data across devices.
If you use Guest Mode, your learning progress may remain only on your device. It may not be recoverable if you uninstall the app, clear its data, reset the device, or switch to another device. Guest Mode does not prevent us from collecting limited product-analytics information as described in Section 1.F.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only information reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and improve UniWord.
A. Guest Mode
You can use UniWord without signing in.
In Guest Mode:
Learning progress, preferences, custom word lists, and user-added reading texts may be stored locally on your device.
Guest Mode learning data is not linked to a UniWord cloud account unless you later choose to sign in and synchronize supported data.
Locally stored learning data may be lost if the app is uninstalled, app data is cleared, or the device is replaced.
Limited product-analytics events may still be sent to our analytics provider using an anonymous identifier, as described in Section 1.F. If you later sign in, that anonymous analytics history may be associated with your UniWord account.
To synchronize or restore supported learning progress across devices, you may sign in with Google.
B. Account Information
When you sign in using Google Sign-In, we may receive limited information associated with your Google account, such as:
Your name
Email address
Profile photo, if provided by Google
A unique account identifier
We use this information for:
Account authentication and access
Identifying your account inside the app
Synchronizing, backing up, or restoring supported learning data
Responding to support or account-deletion requests
Linking UniWord Pro subscription entitlements to your account, where applicable
Associating product-analytics events with your UniWord account
Authentication and account services may be handled by Google and Supabase.
We do not receive or store your Google account password.
C. Learning and App Data
When you use UniWord, we may process information related to your learning activity, including:
Saved vocabulary and custom word lists
Learning progress and revision history
Review, quiz, or exam status
Grammar lesson progress
Daily goals, streaks, preferences, and app settings
Saved catalog articles or stories
User-added reading texts, titles, translations, categories, difficulty labels, and related glossaries that you create or save
Language selections
Supported backup, synchronization, and restoration data
If you are signed in, supported learning data — including custom word lists and user-added reading content — may be stored in our cloud backend (Supabase) so it can be synchronized or restored on another device. Other users cannot access your private learning data through the app.
D. User-Added Reading Content and AI Features
UniWord lets you add your own reading texts (for example by typing, pasting, scanning with on-device OCR, or voice input) and generate translations, titles, categories, difficulty labels, and word glosses.
When you use these features:
The text you submit, and the generated translation and related learning metadata, are stored locally on your device.
If you are signed in, that content may be uploaded to our cloud backend and linked to your UniWord account for backup and device sync.
To generate a translation, glossary, or word-enrichment example, the relevant text (and, for word collection, selected words and optional surrounding context) is sent to our servers and then to third-party AI providers. We currently use OpenRouter, which may route the request to models such as Google Gemini or OpenAI.
On-device OCR generally extracts text on your device first. We do not upload OCR source images to our servers for advertising. If a feature sends an image to an AI provider for text extraction, that image is used only to provide the requested feature.
Do not submit passwords, financial account numbers, government ID numbers, health records, or other highly sensitive personal information as reading or vocabulary content. User-added content may include whatever you choose to provide. We process it to provide the feature you requested, not to sell it or use it for advertising.
We do not use your user-added reading texts to train our own public AI models. Third-party AI providers process submitted text according to their own terms and privacy policies, which may include limited logging or abuse monitoring.
E. Subscription Information
UniWord offers paid features through UniWord Pro subscriptions.
If you purchase UniWord Pro:
Payment is processed by Google Play.
We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
Google Play and RevenueCat may process purchase and subscription information.
We may receive subscription status, product identifiers, purchase status, expiration information, and entitlement status.
Subscription entitlement information may be associated with your UniWord account so Pro access remains consistent across supported devices.
Available plans, prices, free trials, introductory offers, renewal terms, and applicable taxes are shown in the app and in the Google Play purchase screen before purchase.
Where offered, the yearly subscription may include a 3-day free trial. Eligibility and availability are determined by Google Play. After the trial, the subscription automatically renews at the displayed price unless it is cancelled or otherwise managed through Google Play.
F. Product Analytics
UniWord uses PostHog, a third-party product-analytics service hosted in the European Union (https://eu.i.posthog.com), to understand how the app is used and to improve onboarding, learning features, and UniWord Pro.
We may collect:
App lifecycle events (such as app opened or backgrounded)
Onboarding steps and selected language pair
Feature-usage events (such as paywall viewed, free-feature limits reached, or daily goals completed)
Technical and device information commonly included by the analytics SDK (such as app version, device type, operating system, locale, and an analytics identifier)
If you sign in, your UniWord account identifier, together with limited properties such as selected languages and whether UniWord Pro is active
We do not send the following to PostHog:
Your Google email address, name, or profile photo
The full text of user-added readings, translations, or custom word lists
Payment card details
Session recordings or screen replay (session replay is disabled)
The app may also keep limited local counters on your device (for example paywall or feature-gate counts) to operate in-app limits. Those local counters are separate from PostHog.
We do not use PostHog for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not sell analytics data.

2. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect
We do not intentionally collect:
Your Google account password
Full payment card information
Personal contacts or address-book data
Private messages from other applications
Biometric identifiers
Precise location data for advertising
Data for targeted or behavioral advertising
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. Local Device Processing
Many UniWord features operate locally on your device, including:
Vocabulary saving and review
Guest Mode learning progress
App preferences and settings
OCR text recognition
On-device translation
Downloaded language models
Certain usage counters
OCR and Images
When you choose an image or use the camera for OCR, the image may be processed on your device using Google ML Kit or related device services.
UniWord does not intentionally upload OCR source images to our servers for advertising or unrelated purposes.
Recognized text that you choose to save as learning or reading content may be stored locally or synchronized with your account when account-based synchronization is enabled. If you then use an AI translation or word-enrichment feature, the extracted text may be sent to AI providers as described in Section 1.D.
Translation
UniWord includes more than one translation path:
On-device translation may use Google ML Kit language models downloaded to your device. Text processed only through on-device translation is not intentionally uploaded to our servers solely for that translation.
Cloud AI translation (used for user-added reading texts and certain word-enrichment features) sends the submitted text to our servers and to third-party AI providers as described in Section 1.D.
Translated or saved content that you choose to add to your learning data may be stored locally or synchronized with your account.
Voice Typing and Speech Recognition
Voice typing may use on-device or network-based speech recognition depending on:
Your device
Operating-system settings
Installed language packs
Internet availability
Your selected speech-recognition provider
Speech input may be processed by Google, your device manufacturer, your operating-system provider, or another speech service configured on your device. Their processing is governed by their respective privacy policies. Text produced from speech that you save as learning or reading content is treated as user-added content under this policy.
4. Permissions We Request
UniWord may request device permissions only when needed for specific features.
Camera
Used to capture images for OCR when you choose to use the camera feature.
Photos or Storage
Used to select an image for OCR or access files that you explicitly choose.
Microphone
Used for voice typing or speech input when you activate that feature.
Notifications
Used for learning reminders, daily-goal notifications, streak reminders, or similar educational notifications when enabled.
You may deny or revoke permissions through your device settings. Some related features may not function without the required permission.
5. How We Use Information
We may use information to:
Provide access to UniWord and its features
Authenticate and manage accounts
Save, synchronize, back up, or restore supported learning progress, including user-added reading content and custom word lists
Generate translations, glossaries, and learning examples you request through AI features
Provide and manage UniWord Pro access
Personalize learning goals and app preferences
Maintain streaks, progress, and learning history
Measure product usage and improve app functionality, reliability, onboarding, and user experience
Detect bugs, abuse, fraud, or security issues
Respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests
Comply with legal obligations
Enforce applicable terms and protect our rights
We process information only for purposes reasonably connected to operating UniWord and providing requested features.
6. Legal Bases for Processing
Where laws such as the European Union General Data Protection Regulation apply, we may process personal data based on:
Contract: To provide account, synchronization, subscription, user-added content storage, AI translation, and other app services you request.
Consent: When you grant permissions, enable optional features, or provide information voluntarily (including user-added texts you submit).
Legitimate interests: To maintain security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, understand product usage, and improve UniWord, in a way that we consider does not override your rights.
Legal obligations: When processing is required by applicable law.
Vital interests or public interest: Where applicable and legally permitted.
You may withdraw consent for optional processing at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn. You can delete user-added reading items in the app, sign out, or delete your account as described in Section 12. To object to analytics processing or request deletion of analytics records, contact support@uniword.app.
7. Data Storage and Security
Guest Mode learning data may be stored locally on your device.
Account-linked information and synchronized learning data, including user-added reading content, may be stored using trusted service providers such as Supabase and related infrastructure providers. Access to your cloud learning data is restricted so that other UniWord users cannot read it.
Subscription and entitlement information may be processed by Google Play and RevenueCat.
Product-analytics events may be stored by PostHog in the European Union.
Text submitted to AI features may be processed by OpenRouter and underlying model providers (currently including Google and OpenAI) to complete the request.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
However, no electronic storage, device, network, or transmission method is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account, device, and screen lock.
8. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to:
Provide UniWord services
Maintain your account and synchronized data
Manage subscription entitlements
Measure and improve the product
Respond to support or legal requests
Prevent fraud or abuse
Comply with legal obligations
Account-linked learning data is generally retained while your account remains active, or until you delete the specific item or your account.
AI providers typically receive user-added text only to fulfill a request and are not used by us as a long-term store of your readings. They may retain limited logs according to their own policies.
Analytics events are retained according to our PostHog project settings and as needed to understand product usage. We do not keep them for advertising profiles.
If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize eligible account information and synchronized learning data, subject to reasonable processing time and any information we are legally required to retain. We will also request deletion or anonymization of associated PostHog person data to the extent supported by PostHog. Aggregated or de-identified analytics that no longer identify you may remain.
Some subscription transaction records may remain with Google Play or RevenueCat according to their legal, financial, fraud-prevention, and retention obligations.
Guest Mode learning data remains on your device until you clear the app’s data, uninstall the app, reset the device, or delete the data through available device or app controls.
Backups maintained by service providers may take additional time to expire through normal backup-retention cycles.
9. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share or make information available only in the following circumstances:

These providers may process limited information to perform services on our behalf or provide their own platform services.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to:
Comply with applicable law or a valid legal request
Protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, or Multi_Software
Investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents
Enforce applicable agreements
Business Changes
If UniWord or Multi_Software is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of assets, relevant information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate protections.
10. Third-Party Services
UniWord may use or interact with the following third-party services:

Google Play Billing — purchases, subscription billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds
RevenueCat — subscription verification and entitlement management

Multi_Software is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third-party providers.
11. Purchases, Trials, and Subscriptions
UniWord Pro subscriptions are sold through Google Play.
Google Play handles:
Payment processing
Free-trial eligibility
Subscription activation
Automatic renewal
Plan changes
Cancellations
Billing issues
Refunds
RevenueCat helps verify your subscription status and maintain Pro entitlement information.
Prices, billing periods, available free trials, and renewal terms are displayed before purchase. Subscription offers may vary by country, account, eligibility, currency, and Google Play settings.
You can view or manage your subscription through Google Play.
Cancelling a subscription generally prevents future renewal but does not automatically create a refund for previous charges. Refund eligibility is determined by Google Play and applicable law.
12. Account Deletion and Data Requests
You may request permanent deletion of your UniWord account and eligible account-linked cloud data.
How to Request Deletion
You can request deletion in either of the following ways:
In the UniWord app (recommended):
Open the Profile tab.
Expand the Account section.
Tap Delete account.
Confirm the deletion.
When you delete your account from within the app while signed in, UniWord deletes your UniWord account and eligible synchronized cloud learning data (including user-added reading content and custom word lists stored in our cloud backend), then clears related local progress on that device. We also reset the local analytics identifier on that device and will request deletion or anonymization of associated PostHog person data to the extent supported by PostHog.
Outside the app (web / email):
If you have uninstalled UniWord, or cannot use the in-app option, you may submit a deletion request through:

Where possible, send the request from the email address associated with your UniWord account. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request submitted by email or form.
Processing Time
In-app deletion: Eligible account and cloud data are generally deleted promptly after you confirm deletion in the app, subject to normal network and server processing time.
Email or support-form requests: After receiving and verifying a valid request, we aim to process account deletion within 24 to 48 hours. Complex or legally regulated requests may require additional time.

Your name
Email address
Profile photo reference
UniWord account identifier
Synchronized vocabulary and custom word lists
User-added reading texts, translations, and related glossaries stored in our cloud backend
Learning and revision progress
Grammar progress
Goals and account-linked settings
Other eligible account-linked learning data
Related learning progress stored locally on the device used to complete in-app deletion
Associated PostHog person records, to the extent we can delete or anonymize them through PostHog
Data Not Automatically Removed
Deleting your UniWord account may not automatically delete:
Google account information held by Google
Google Play purchase or transaction records
RevenueCat records that must be retained for legal, fraud-prevention, or subscription-verification purposes
Logs or residual copies held by AI providers according to their own policies
Aggregated or de-identified analytics
Information we are legally required to retain
Google Play subscriptions are not cancelled automatically when you delete your UniWord account. To stop future billing, manage or cancel your subscription in Google Play → Subscriptions.
Guest Mode data stored only on a device (without cloud sync) can generally be removed by clearing UniWord’s app data or uninstalling the app.
Sign-out vs Account Deletion
Signing out may remove or disconnect local data on that device. Signing out alone does not delete previously synchronized cloud data or historical analytics associated with your account. Use Delete account in the app, or submit an account-deletion request by email/support form, if you want eligible cloud data permanently removed.
13. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
Request access to your information
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion
Request restriction of certain processing
Object to certain processing, including analytics based on legitimate interests
Request a portable copy of eligible information
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
Submit a complaint to an applicable data-protection authority

These rights may be limited by applicable laws, security requirements, legal obligations, and legitimate record-retention needs.
14. International Data Processing
UniWord is available to users in multiple countries.
Our service providers may process or store information in countries other than the country where you live. For example:
Account and synchronized learning data may be processed by Supabase and related hosting providers
Product analytics are sent to PostHog’s EU cloud
AI translation and enrichment requests may be processed by OpenRouter and model providers that operate in multiple countries, including the United States
Privacy laws in those countries may differ from local laws.
Where required, we and our service providers use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
15. Children’s Privacy
UniWord is intended for users aged 13 years and older.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that personal information from a child under 13 has been collected without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

16. Website Preferences
The UniWord website may store limited preferences, such as light or dark theme selection, in browser local storage.
These preferences are used to remember your display settings and are not intended to identify you or link the preference to your UniWord app account.
If the website later begins using analytics, advertising, or non-essential cookies, this Privacy Policy and any required consent controls will be updated.
17. Links to Other Services
UniWord may contain links to third-party websites, applications, or services.
We are not responsible for the content, security, availability, or privacy practices of third-party services. Review the applicable policies before providing information to them.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect:
Changes to UniWord features
Changes to service providers
Legal or regulatory requirements
Security or privacy improvements
When we update this Privacy Policy, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above.
If an update materially changes how we process personal information, we may provide additional notice where required.
