Director

Kathy Jones, a former teacher at St. Stephen the Martyr School, has been active in basketball for many years.  She began her career as a player at Kansas State University, and after graduating, she took a position as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at the University of Missouri.  She continued her collegiate coaching as an assistant coach at Memphis University until she married and moved to Louisiana.  But, basketball was ingrained in her.  Throughout the years, she has coached middle school, high school, and then her daughters' elementary teams.  She has worked hundreds of basketball camps across the country, including some in Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Illinois, and she has run this camp for over 25 years with great success.

"I want to educate young athletes and open their eyes to skills that will help them be successful in basketball.  The purpose of my camp is to review and introduce new skills that campers can take home and practice to improve their game.  But just as important, I want to show how much fun basketball is!"

8:30-10:30    Grade 1-3

This boys and girls camp will focus on the fundamentals of offense and defense and will include contests. It will cover beginning and intermediate skills, including shooting, dribbling, passing, pivoting, and defense. This camp is designed to teach young athletes the skills that they can practice at home to help them become more proficient in basketball. We will teach in small groups where they will get one-on-one help with their counselors.

10:45-12:45    Grade 4-8

This boys and girls camp will focus on individual skills and position work for the intermediate to advanced player. Fundamentals will be stressed along with defensive and offensive moves and drills. The skills taught are meant to be building blocks for each athlete to practice at home in which to become more proficient in the sport.
