AuraaByte ("we," "us," or "our") operates the FitStride: Pedometer, GPS Route & BMI Tracker mobile application (the "App"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App and the choices you have associated with that data.
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our service to you.
A. Personal Data
While using our App, you may provide us with certain personally identifiable information to help manage your fitness goals:
Profile Information: Name, weight, height, and daily step goals. This data is used to calculate BMI and calories burned.
Contact Information: If you contact us via auraabyte@gmail.com, we may keep a record of that correspondence.
B. Health & Fitness Data (Sensors)
Physical Activity: The App accesses your device's Step Detector Sensor to track your steps in real-time. This is processed via a foreground service to ensure accuracy even when the app is minimized.
C. Location Data
GPS Tracking: If you use the route tracking feature, we collect your location data to draw your path on Google Maps.
Background Location: Because the App tracks walks/runs while your phone is in your pocket, we may request access to location in the background. We do not track your location when you are not actively recording a session.
All your fitness history, session logs, and profile data are stored locally on your device using a Room database.
We do not upload your fitness history or BMI data to external servers.
The data remains on your device unless you clear the App data or uninstall the App.
We use the following third-party services which may collect information used to identify you:
Google Play Services: Used for app functionality and map rendering.
Google Maps API: Used to display your walking routes.
AdMob (if applicable): May collect device identifiers to serve personalized or non-personalized advertisements.
To function correctly, the App requires the following permissions:
ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION: To detect steps.
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION & ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: To map your routes.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE: To maintain step counting while the app is in the background.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: To resume the step counter automatically after a device restart.
The security of your data is important to us. Since your data is stored locally, its security depends on your device's security. We implement standard Material Design and Android security practices to protect your information within the app environment.
Our services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
