You know that feeling when you get it? When you feel some sort of a shift? Like deep inside of you and it is hard to truly put your finger on it but you describe it as incredible clarity? That's what I want to help you find. I have referred to these moments as 'drawing a line in the sand'. It is a definitive moment in time when you "get it". It's when you start to piece together the fact that how you FEEL is DIRECTLY CORRELATED to your choices and actions. But further to your choices and actions you also start to recognize how your INACTIVITY and the things that you always SAY you should do but just never seem to follow through on, THAT'S when you experience incredible clarity. And guess what? It is lesson after lesson after lesson for me. I mean, everyone finds themselves in a season of growth and change....or not. But I think when it really comes down to the work that is involved or when we peel back the layers of walls we have built up in order to fight the fight of essentially REMAINING unhealthy, we start to realize that it takes an incredible amount of ENERGY to BE unwell. I know, wellness is defined in so many ways and what is wellness for one might be different for another but I know in the work that I do with clients, if you are not looking after yourself mind, body and spirit, it EVENTUALLY catches up to you!
This feeling, this epiphany, this clarity, I call it an AWARENESS of SELF. It is that feeling in the pit of your stomach where you get excited, fired up, you feel elevated, like a lightbulb moment. And suddenly, things FEEL EASIER. It feels as if you no longer have to spend THINKING POWER wallowing and staying STUCK and that you are now so clear on the SOLUTION to something that has been a problem, issue, sore spot for as long as you can remember.
I work with women as I help them create meal plans with family friendly recipes. I help them understand their energy (typically lack thereof) and help them understand which foods will rob them of energy and which foods they could be eating to boost immunity, decrease inflammation and which foods will leave them feeling fuller longer. But at the end of the day (or week or month) when they have all the tools they need, when they have all the guidance they need and support from me, so many are left wondering.....why is it so hard? Why do I 'keep quitting'? Why do I hit plateaus and how do I KEEP GOING when things get 'hard'?
What if you made decisions FROM that ELEVATED STATE moving forward? What if every time you were faced with making choices that don't bring you energy and clarity and happiness you channeled that PIT OF THE STOMACH feeling, that clarity, that intense realization that feeling crappy is NOT how you want to feel and that even though that pizza, those chips, that glass of wine or two or three might taste great in the moment, you know they WILL NOT leave you feeling in control!? What if you shifted your ENERGY? What if you got yourself into that elevated state prior to making decisions?
Can you practice it?
Can you journal about it?
Can you paint a vision of YOU in that moment and how you FEEL?
Can you win those moments? Things like going to bed earlier, getting off your phone earlier, drinking more water throughout the day, choosing foods that boost your energy, moving your body, getting outside....those are all MOMENTS in your day that, when acted upon daily and compounded, greatly impact your WELLNESS!
I've attached a simple PDF for you to print and use as part of a vision to cast for your day. Set an intention for the things you WANT to accomplish and then think of how you will FEEL when you achieve them. Channel it. I mean really channel it. Talk to yourself in the mirror. I know. It feels REALLY WEIRD. But, if you can't look yourself in the eye and make a promise to yourself that you will show up with confidence and conviction FOR YOURSELF you really can't be simultaneously asking yourself why you consistently fall short on your goals. Right???
