This assignment was fun and creative but was one that I found very challenging from the start. When first reading through the assignment I was wondering to my self where to start. Looking through pervious projects there didn't seem to be anything I was drawn to and since I don't teach in a traditional role I felt like I didn't have the background to know what educators are looking for. With no ideas right off the start I decided to focus in on things I am passionate about and try and identify gaps. With my background in sport, personal fitness and physical education I started to think about the markets these existed in and researched potential growth. Through my research I found that the fitness industry is an area that is consistently seeing a lot of growth and that has room fro new ideas. I tried to think about some of the barriers within fitness and how those could be helped with technology. I also considered competitors and decided what my app would need in order to stand out and compete with others.
The strength in this project comes from my my experience in the industry, having worked in fitness pre and post pandemic I have seen the shifts and changes in fitness and I have been able to watch the trends and learn what users want and need in a fitness app. I know there has been a shift in exercise with many people working out from home. With different needs for equipment and space as well as the different goals people have for fitness I knew that customization in an app would be key to attracting different users. I also have come to realize that whether or not people are at home or in the gym a sense of community can foster a good relationship with working out and keep people focused and motivated.
With these two key points in mind I decided on the idea of a fitness app that uses AI technology to customize workouts for users. AI will be able to choose workouts based on preferences to start and then use biometric data from the users to continue to change and grow with the clients as they progress or their goals change.
Other parts that I found challenging that is a weakness in my project is part of the pitch itself. I found it difficult to keep things short, concise and catchy but tried to keep the venture pitch geared towards investors and focused on the important messaging on the positives to investing in FIT AI. I spent some time on kickstarter and looked at examples and things that real kickstarters were focusing on and then helped me decided what to include and focus on and what to spend less time on based on our length constraints. Things that I spent less time on may be considered a weakness in my project but I wanted to focus on things I could speak to. I felt that I could convince investors this was a good idea but what I need from the investors was harder for me to know. I researched how much app production cost and what a number would be that would help in the creation and start up of the app but still be an incentive to investors. This is an area I am not as confident on in my project is a weakness when it comes to my pitch.
Overall, this was a challening but educational experience and I look forward to people's comments on FIT AI.
