The U.S. topped Group C to meet Korea in the quarterfinal after winning Poland, Japan and the Czech Republic while Korea lost to Finland in a three-team group.
Four American players reached double figures, with Jaylen Forbes, Kevin Cross Jr, Collin Holloway, and Kolby King shooting 11, 12, 14, and 18 points. It was King who shot a field goal in the second quarter to overturn the game again and skippered his team to rush to the success.
Not only these four good hands, eleven of America’s 12 players scored from the field. They collaborated a 32-point lead and a 15-0 climax surge in the third quarter.
Korea’s Lee Geunhwi, who monopolized 9 three-pointers with 4 of 5 beyond the arc in the first quarter, contributed a game-high 29 points. His five three-pointers brought the house down but were not enough in narrowing the big score gap.
His teammate Yun Wonsang contributed 10 points to Korea.
Powerhouses U.S. and Brazil will scramble for a berth in the final on Friday.
