Short Bio
A devoted fan of Santos Futebol Clube, he was born in Mauá, São Paulo, Brazil, and spent his childhood in Ribeirão Preto, also located in the state of São Paulo. He earned his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1998 and 2002, respectively. According to available records, he completed his Ph.D. in just 2 years and 4 months—an institutional record.
Since 2003, he has been a Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He holds a CNPq productivity research grant at level 1D.
He has authored over one hundred articles in indexed journals, as well as two book chapters and several full conference papers. His main research interests lie in numerical studies, complemented by some analytical results, in the areas of equilibrium and non-equilibrium statistical mechanics, probabilistic modeling, spatial evolutionary game theory, data analysis, computational physics, random matrices, and simple applications of graph theory.
