The Deep South Association Club hosted an event with the American Red Cross and FEMA to inform students how to prepare for a natural disaster. Many members of the club come from areas where natural disasters occur frequently, and with the tornado that devastated the Nashville community in spring 2020, we determined this seminar to be necessary for the preparation of our students. Over 30 individuals came to hear our guest speakers Ms. Thelma Lang (FEMA) and Ms. Crystal Fisher (American Red Cross), their information was informative and motivated students to get out in the community and spread this essential knowledge.

The DSAC was invited to host a table at the org fair. The table proved to be successful when 10 new individuals signed up for club membership. We gave away candy and pralines. The Pralines was a big hit. President Van Newkirk stopped by the table and introduced himself and was happy with the clubs objectives.

The Deep South Association hosted a day of service street clean up on October 2nd,2021 for the students at Fisk University. Around 40 participants from 12 pm -2 pm helped clean from the corner of Pauls Market to the gas station on Rosa L. Parks. The clean-up consisted of Fisk students cleaning up debris and other forms of litter to make Jefferson street beauty shine. Students were given the opportunity to gain volunteer hours as well for their service to the Jefferson Street Community. In total we collected over 42 trash bags worth of litter to make Jefferson Street more beautiful. Thank you to the Metro Department of Transportation for supplying trash bags and street pickers.

The Deep South Association hosted a a school supply drive that lasted from September 8th to October 18th. The club was able to collect a box of school supplies to donate to PENCIL.

The Deep South Association Club hosted an informative event in the multipurpose room October 5th at 5:00pm. The event was hosted by Sodexo dietitian Kara Miller. Mrs.Miller discussed the importance of nutrition and how to make sure that your food palate is colorful. Moreover, provided insight on updates on nutrition of Fisk University's cafe. Lastly, the event highlighted businesses owned by Fisk University students. Special Mentions include We Are Geniune Beauty owned by Tamiya Bowden and Acai Bowls by Zoe Hinds. Impressions of Beauty team RaKia Phillips and Tamiya Bowden also spoke and informed students about a beauty club and internships in beauty marketing.

The Deep South Association Club raised 650.00 in funds to Dillard University and Xavier University. The amount of $325 was sent to each. This fundraiser started on September 20th and ended on October 3rd. Both of these colleges were severely affected by hurricane Ida. By raising funds for both of these New Orleans-based Historically Black Colleges Universities, The Deep South Association hopes to provide relief to these students in their time of such tragedy. We are glad that we were able to make an impact on our fellow HBCU. Our Vice President Monica Kincade led this fundraiser and was able to raise the majority of the funds.

The Deep South Association and The Junior Class Cabinet hosted Cardz For Kidz Event located in the multipurpose room in Spence Hall. The event consisted of Fisk University students making inspirational/ fun cards that are sick to children that are in the hospital. Furthermore, Fisk students received 30 mins for each card that they made that goes towards their scholarships.

The Deep South Association participated in Oktoberfest alongside various Fisk University affiliated organizations. Rakia Phillips, Trinity Upshaw, insert tanner art society president, and Mauryce Thomas,II assisted children who attend a local nashville elementary school crafts. The children enjoyed making their own Halloween pumpkins and they were excited to receive candy.

The DSAC hosted a Valentine Day fundraiser to raise money for the club. This fundraiser was love boxes. The love boxes included chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered pretzels, crush soda, ring pop, chocolate, special gift, custom message, and flowers. Students were able to purchase from January 15th - February 10th. There was a second sale for $8. We sold 11 boxes and made $113 profit after completing the boxes we only made $36. The boxes were distributed on Valentines Day.

Fisk Activities Board hosted the spring festival for students on campus. Organizations like our were invited to participate. DSAC hosted a hunting game at the table. We gave away jolly ranchers and had a good time.

Miss DSAC and the Miss Phi Beta Sigma Royal Court hosted a craft a sip for students to come out and enjoy. Our club founder serves as Miss Alpha Gamma and wanted to host a joint event celebrating queens with a southern twist. There was 25 guest in attendance and was an successful event.

April 15th 2022 The Deep South Association Club hosted a card making event where students were afforded the opportunity to make cards for service hours. The supplies were donated by alumni and the alumni agreed to pay for the shipment of the cards. We hope to win the March Gladness Competition again.
