Tin can alley
Tie a small sinker to the end of your softbait rod.
Set up a tin can (or bucket) at the end of the garden on a stool.
Cast your weight at it and try to knock it off.
If you are playing this with a family member, write different fish species on the cans and see who can limit up first!
Get some casting tips from this guy - no more hooking the index finger around the line - that was a new tip for me!
"Best knot" Tug o War
You will need 2 players for this one.
Cut a 1 metre length of your strongest braid
Cut 2 lengths of your strongest mono
Each player ties one end of their mono to the braid using their best knot, and one end to a large sinker to use as a handle.
PULL!!!
The player whose knot gives first is the loser.
You can change it up by replacing the braid with a heavy duty swivel or split ring and tying to that.
OR if your knots are unbreakable, both players stand on a box and try to dislodge the other player.
Catch a "dogfish"
Now, I'm going to precursor this one.... I am not sure about this one, but it's up to you. It could end in disaster, it could also be the world's first.
Secretly tie the end of your line to your dog's favourite chew toy and sit and wait. When he comes into the garden, start to jerk it around til it catches his eye. Once he pounces on it, flick the lever to drag and hold on tight!!! Probably best if you have a small dog or big rod & reel combo!
Make sure you put some leader line with a low breaking strain at the end to prevent damage to the rod or dog!
