CFOS-IFPDS Faculty and REPS conducted training-workshop on fisheries social science research in Northern Iloilo State University-Estancia Campus on January 23-24, 2025.
This two-day activity aims to equip the participants with basic concepts, tools, and practices in conducting fisheries social science research. Asst. Prof. Liberty N. Espectato, PhD., Ms. Genna D. Serofia (University Extension Specialist), Ms. Ruby P. Napata (University Researcher), and Mr. Ariel S. Sefil (University Research Associate) from the Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, served as resource persons.
Students and faculty members from the College of Fisheries and Allied Sciences, Northern Iloilo State University (NISU-CFAS) participated this learning event.

A Discussion on the Science and Policy Aspects of the West Philippines Sea
The seminar addressed science and policy-related issues concerning the West Philippine Sea. Two resource speakers were invited: Dr. Leo Armada (UP-National Insitute of Geological Sciences), who discussed the geologic features of the WPS, and Dr. Ben Malayang III (BFAR-USAID-URI Fish Right Program), who presented approaches in dealing with resource management and conflict in the disputed waters.
