Frequently Asked Questions

Generally, cadets wear their uniforms in all campus buildings except residence halls and the recreation center. Uniforms are not required at the RELLIS campus for TEAMS/TEAB cadets. During evening study time, cadets may wear civilian attire in the library and some other specified locations across campus. Cadets are not required to wear their uniforms during their free time or when they go off campus. 

Each cadet is responsible for the dry cleaning of his/her uniforms.  Cadet uniforms must be dry cleaned. Dry cleaning services are available off campus at numerous local businesses. Machine washing will damage the uniforms. The OCP (camo) uniforms do not need dry cleaning. 

There are laundry facilities located in all Corps dorms.  There is no cost to use a washing or drying unit as it is included in the cadets’ housing fees for each semester.  Cadets must furnish their own laundry supplies.

Cadets wear their robes (with shorts or underwear underneath) in the hall when they go to take a shower so that they won’t have to go fully dressed.  Robes must be at least mid-thigh length but maybe longer.  Robes may be any color other than burnt orange.  Cadets are allowed to have their last name only embroidered on the outside of their robe. In general, the Corps follows the military services’ guidelines regarding the wearing of religious items in uniform.  Specifically, religious items and headgear can be worn as long as the item is completely covered by the uniform and/or does not detract/interfere with the wearing of the cadet uniform, to include the uniform headgear. Additional items or grooming exceptions will be evaluated on a case by case basis by the Commandant only after an exception to uniform regulations has been submitted by the cadet.

The Corps adheres to the military service regulations regarding tattoos and body piercings.  Except for the wearing of earrings by female cadets, the wearing of any body piercing jewelry while in uniform is forbidden.

Yes.  The Corps conducts Evening Study Time (EST) Sunday through Thursday nights beginning after supper and lasting until morning.  An appropriate study environment is maintained in the dorm during this time.  Quiet Hour conditions in the dormitory hallways, rooms, as well as on the Quad, are in effect for all cadets.  EST provides cadets an opportunity to study when and where they desire (within reason) to achieve the best personal results possible. Cadets have the Academic Day (7:30 am – 4:30 pm) to focus on classes. 

The Commandant’s staff includes full-time Scholastic Performance Specialists that provide a wide variety of academic support to all cadets.  Computer labs and study rooms are available for cadets in the Leadership Learning Centers.  The Commandant provides additional academic support (tutoring, supplemental instruction and test reviews) in a variety of subjects at no cost to the cadets. Cadets are also available to use university resources including the Math Learning Center and the Academic Success Center.

All members of the Corps are required to select a meal plan. The Corps of Cadets recommends the all-access meal plan for cadets which includes unlimited meal swipes, 5 retail swipes per week,  5 guest meals per semester and a specified number of dining dollars. Cadets who do not choose a meal plan will be assigned the All Access/100 Dining Dollar Meal Plan for each semester. For more information on dining plans, visit Dine on Campus.

Hazing is a violation of state law, university policy, and Corps policy.  The Corps conducts formal training every semester on student rules to ensure every cadet understands what is allowed and not allowed as a student and cadet at Texas A&M.  The Commandant will not tolerate hazing in the Corps of Cadets. 

The Commandant’s staff does not recommend cadets pursue employment until they have adjusted to the college level requirements and their academic responsibilities.  

Cadets may carry their books in a black briefcase, black backpack, or black book bag.

Yes, but a car is not a necessity.  A&M has a very good, campus wide, bus transportation system available to all students.  Bus transportation is also available to some off-campus destinations and shopping areas.  To park on campus a vehicle parking permit must be purchased through Transportation Services.  Most cadets park in Lot 40, South Side Parking Garage, University Center Parking Garage, West Campus Parking Garage, or Lot 100. 

The Corps will have open weekends when cadets are free to leave campus after classes on Friday and not required to return until Sunday evening at 8 p.m.  No Corps/unit activities are allowed on Corps Open Weekends.  Visit tx.ag/CorpsEvents for the Corps calendar or the fish Moms Calendar

Yes, the Corps attends all home football games which requires the purchase of a 12th Man Sports Pass. More information can be found at https://12thmanfoundation.com/tickets/student-tickets/index.html  

Members of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band do not need to purchase a sports pass.
