Many Indian glaciologists and climate scientists studying the Cryosphere started monthly online meetings in 2021 and they have been conducting these meetings ever since. This initiative is called MIGM – Monthly Indian Glaciology Meetups and was inspired by a few such efforts taken globally (e.g. IGS Seminar Series, Alpine Glaciology Meetings in Europe, etc,.). The MIGMs have been a platform to present research work, create a database of the planned fieldwork, discuss scientific and other issues, and plan future research, collaborations, and capacity building. Apart from monthly meetings, the MIGM members connect with great enthusiasm when meeting in person. So far, more than 15 research groups and 70+ members are associated with the MIGM and the numbers are growing, as the community is inclusive. The MIGM community decided to meet in-person meetings once a year in a very informal setting.
