The Cool Down Spot

This is a safe, comfortable spot where children can go to calm down or reset when they are feeling big emotions. They may be asked to go there by an adult or they can ask to go there themselves. When they get there, they flip the 5 minute sand timer and choose a calm down tool to use until the timer runs out. At that time, they clean up and return to the group. Some examples of the calm down tools there include bubble timers and a glitter bottle to watch, breathing technique visuals, fidgets, puzzles, and mini coloring pages. When we get to the self-management unit, we will learn about yoga poses and there will be cards there to remind students of the poses they can do while there.
