Rita organized for and worked with Marshall since she met him in the early 80’s. After her first workshop with Marshall, she described it as if NVC took her by storm and she was hanging onto a comet.
Rita was chairman of the board and served on the board for 9 years and had a great impact on the organization. She coordinated the early activities of the center and was instrumental in the development of the NVC community and organization.
She was a constant in the NVC world into her 90’s.
Rita was particularly key in writing the original documents for the CPP (Certification Preparation Packet) and the assessment process. She also served as the certification coordinator since its beginning, retiring in December of 2014. She volunteered for the Certification Coordination Council, which offered support and guidance to assessors and trainer candidates. She was steadfast in her support of the assessors and the assessment process.
As a CNVC certified trainer and an IIT trainer, she offered NVC training in Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Israel, many parts of Europe, and in the U.S. and Canada.
Rita co-authored the children's book The Mayor of Jackal Heights, which demonstrates the power of NVC empathy.
Rita's experiences have taught her that once we fully receive the healing power of empathy for ourselves, we cannot stop the natural flow of compassion to others, creating the loving connections we all yearn for.
Rita passed on January 15, 2025.
