KRISTY, a global consultant with a healthcare focus, is a trained pediatric nurse practitioner who has served for 12 years in the Dominican Republic, leading teams and working with public health issues. Kristy helped coordinate the 2010 Haiti earthquake relief and worked in Liberia during the 2014 Ebola outbreak. She provides health assessments, training, clinical skills, partner consultation, and crisis relief throughout the world. A hallmark of Kristy’s work is teaching about Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD)
ERIC and YUREE serve at the Kawthoolei Karen Baptist Bible School and College (KKBBSC) located in Mae La Refugee Camp near Mae Sot, Thailand. Young adults, mainly from the Karen ethnic group, attend the school to pursue a degree in ministry to serve as Christian leaders within the refugee camps and to internally displaced persons in the areas along the Thai/Myanmar border. Eric and Yuree's ministry focuses on working with refugees through education, discipleship and evangelism. At the school, they teach English and ministry classes. They also travel with KKBBSC students and staff to villages in Karen State, Myanmar, to teach and conduct Bible classes.
KIHOMI and NZUNGA serve in the Dominican Republic as a vital link between IM and the island of Hispaniola. They started a new Creole-speaking church, New Creation Baptist, in Villa Altagracia. They work to address the multiple issues people are facing in the DR and Haiti. Kihomi works with families in counseling, women’s health, community health, evangelism and economic development. She is the advisor to the Association des Femmes Baptistes d’Haiti. Kihomi and Nzunga write books used in French-speaking countries. They also administer a scholarship program for students, manage mission projects that provide poor children with goats and pigs, and supervise the Cap-Haitian Eye Clinic which is expanding to include a dental clinic.
BRIAN and LYNETTE serve in partnership with Mission Maranatha Inc. to build sustainable ministries on the island of Hispaniola. They encourage existing ministries and seek creative ways to accomplish God’s vision as they build strong relationships in the community. Brian uses his developed skills in business management to teach budgeting and step-by-step goal achievement. Lynette utilizes her skills as a doula to accompany and listen to the stories of community members. Both empower people to be holistically well in mind, body and spirit and reach out to others in ways that speak love, preserve dignity and create unity as the body of Christ.
JAE is serving in Tijuana, Mexico as an information technologist at Deborah’s House teaching computer classes to women and giving online supervision for school education to their children. Jae also provides IT assistance to seminary students at the Mexicali campus and at the Master for Theological Studies Latino/a Ministries (MTS) program for Palmer Theological Seminary.
P.U.N.C.H. (People Uniting Neighbors and Churches) is a community made up of the churches and neighbors within the Hilltop area of Davenport. Working together to make this a better place to live and work, PUNCH coordinates events throughout the year to connect with and bless the community around us. From a free community Thanksgiving dinner, to an Easter Egg Hunt open to all kids, to giving out health necessities through the Blessing Box, to area Community gardens that provide free vegetables to our neighbors, we are committed to meeting the needs of our community, and helping share the love of God with them in tangible ways.
The Center ministers to some of the most vulnerable people in Davenport, providing daily meals, clothing, mental health resources, fellowship opportunities, coffee, showers, and a safe place when people are experiencing homelessness, abuse, or distress. Hope at the Brick House ministers to families and children who need food, resources, hope, and encouragement. There are after-school programs, counseling resources, and food programs available to help families thrive.
