First aid serves as a crucial bridge between the occurrence of an injury and the arrival of professional medical help. In line with this, a comprehensive and informative session on First Aid was conducted for our teaching staff by Sr. Beena Chirackal SCN, and the staff members of Nazareth School, Mrs. Jessy Meena and Mrs. Preethi, who had recently participated in an intensive First Aid training programme organized by the St. John's Medical College Bangalore.
The session was designed to equip teachers with the knowledge and confidence to effectively handle medical emergencies. It focused on the critical role of a first aider and covered various life-saving techniques. Key areas of the training included identifying and managing injuries, controlling bleeding, treating minor wounds, handling seizures, responding to heat strokes, recognizing broken bones, and addressing allergic reactions. One of the highlights was the demonstration of how to administer CPR in emergency situations.
Hands-on demonstrations were an essential part of the session, where teachers learned proper wound cleaning techniques, how to tie a bandage correctly, and took part in a mock drill simulating a real-life CPR scenario.
This training greatly enhanced the preparedness of our teachers, empowering them to respond confidently and promptly in emergency situations. More importantly, it emphasized the responsibility that teachers carry in safeguarding the health and well-being of every child entrusted to their care. The session not only imparted valuable life-saving skills but also fostered leadership and accountability among educators.
