76 Campground Road, Whiteville, NC
We invite pastoral candidates led by the Holy Spirit to consider shepherding our deeply rooted, faith-filled congregation. First St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church has been a sanctuary of spiritual growth, service, and resilience since 1882. We are prayerfully seeking a godly, visionary leader to partner with us in glorifying God and building His Kingdom.
Organized in August 1882, our origins trace back to a worship community of freed slaves who once gathered in the balcony of the Whiteville Baptist Church. Out of this faith-filled beginning emerged First St. Paul, established officially after the acquisition of property in 1882. Our early worship was marked by humility and a desire to serve the Lord in unity, often referred to as 'The Wandering Church on the Hill' due to our many relocations.
First St. Paul is deeply committed to serving others through compassionate ministry and active community outreach. We care for the sick through visits and calls, provide food and clothing to those in need, and host Community Fall Festivals. Our church supports families facing hardship, offers tutoring for K–12 students, and runs a Youth Enrichment Program. We also partner with assisted living homes to uplift residents, while two pastoral care ministers provide spiritual and emotional support. Through these efforts, we strive to reflect Christ’s love in all we do.
At First St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, we welcome all with love and joy as we share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Through teaching, outreach, and prayer, we strive to make a lasting impact and grow together in faith. Guided by God's goodness and the true gospel, we invite others to become part of our church family. We hold Sunday services every week except the 5th Sunday, which is reserved for the Brunswick Waccamaw Missionary Baptist Union. We facilitate weekly prayer meeting and bible study. We are proud members and supporters of the Brunswick Waccamaw Missionary Baptist Association and the General Baptist State Convention.
First St. Paul continues to grow spiritually and strives to increase our membership. We are a tight-knit, multigenerational congregation with a deep reverence for the Word and a rich tradition of faith and outreach.
A calling to First St. Paul is a call to serve a church that knows its history, values its people, and honors its God. We are looking for a pastor who will lead with compassion, preach with conviction, and serve with humility. We invite you to become part of our ongoing story—a story of faith, endurance, and community.
