First Presbyterian has implemented a cost-effective E-Giving solution that works seamlessly with our Accounting and Contribution systems. It is very secure and meets all of our needs, but it’s important to remember that it cannot duplicate the speed and functionality of a typical “E-Banking” system you might use to pay your monthly bills. Below are some of the things to keep in mind as you use our system.

Transaction Speeds

Banks spend thousands of dollars to improve the transaction speeds on their E-Banking sites, and as a result, things happen there almost instantaneously. You will notice that some of the transactions with our E-Giving tools are considerably slower than a comparable bank transaction. Please give our system a couple of extra minutes to complete certain transactions. There’s a lot going on in the background. We appreciate you patience.

Confirmation Emails

Our system provides great feedback to you when you use it to make a donation. Some of the confirmation emails may come from senders you do not recognize. We partner with CDM and Suran Systems to implement E-Giving, and some of the confirmation emails originate from them. Don’t worry, your donation will end up where you want it to go.

Entry of Account Numbers

Currently when you enter your payment information (routing and account number) into our system you are only prompted to enter the information once. A typical bank site would require you to enter this type of information two separate times, and check to be sure the entries match. They do this to help you notice if you have entered an incorrect number. We have asked the developer to consider adding this “Error Checking” to our tool, but in the meantime, please double check any account information you enter before pressing the final confirmation. If you make a mistake and use an incorrect account number to make a donation, we will work with you to resolve any issues. Note that we cannot cancel a donation once it is in the system, but we can issue a refund, if that becomes necessary.

Logging Out of the Giving Tool

Most bank sites will automatically log you out of their systems if you have been inactive for ten minutes or so. This is really important in the banking setting, because of the possibility someone may use your credentials to write themselves a check out of your account.

Currently, in certain circumstances, you may remain logged into our giving tool even though you leave our URL. Since the only thing one can do with our E-Giving tool is give money directly to the church, we don’t feel this is a significant issue. But, if you have concerns, be sure you manually log out of our tool before closing your browser.
