George Sheldon is a retired traffic reporter at WSVN (1988-1997; 2004-2006), WTVJ (1988-1997) in Miami, and WLOS (2006-2013) in Asheville. He started at Miami's WQAM and WJQY (Joy 107 FM) as an announcer in the mid-80s. Also, he worked at several radio stations within Clear Channel Communications, AKA iHeart Radio—notably, WIOD, WJNO, WEDR, and WINZ in Miami. George also worked at WKSF/WWNC from 1997 to 2000 in Asheville, North Carolina. He was also the chief meteorologist for the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce's online Radio station (Boca Chamber Radio) from 2016 to 2018. George was also a teacher for Buncombe and Yancey County Public Schools in North Carolina till his retirement in 2013. Meteorology has always been George's passion, especially hurricanes.
George is known for his traffic reporting, weather forecasting, and climate science expertise. With a career spanning over three decades, George has built a reputation for delivering accurate, timely weather updates that help communities stay informed and prepared.
A graduate of Miami-Dade College, George earned a degree in Mass Communications and Earth Science. From there, he quickly rose to prominence in the field through his dedication and skill. He has worked for major broadcasting networks, providing in-depth weather analysis, and has contributed to research on climate patterns, storm tracking, and environmental changes.
George’s passion for meteorology extends beyond the newsroom. He frequently engages in public outreach, hosting workshops and educational programs to increase awareness about climate change and severe weather preparedness. His engaging communication style and deep knowledge make him a trusted figure for audiences seeking reliable information about the natural world.
