In the 1st year, you might be overwhelmed by theoretical subjests and first aid could remind you, why you decided to study medicine - to help people and save lives. When preparing first aid syllabus, we presumed that students need more practical skills than theoretical knowledge. Therefore we emphasize training of skills over learning theory.
Before we start to train something, you need at least some basic theory which will be presented in 2 lectures.
In two faculty-based practices we will focus on training of both adult and paediatric basic life support, including the use od automated external defibrilator (AED). It would help, if you came to the practices with some basic theoretical knowledge - so your knowledge will be tested before each practice (you will not be allowed to take part in the practice without passing the test). Here you can find study materials for each practice.
The climax of the semester will be the experience-based first aid course in Dobronice. The theory will be limited to necessary minimum, on the other hand you can expect skill stations and simulations in which you will alternate in roles of rescuers, casualties and observers. We will focus on both technical and non-technical skills in emergent situations (i. e. crisis resource management – CRM).
