Norimichi Shimada and Nazuna Oikawa live in the town of Moshimo (Japanese for "if"). The students make a bet regarding whether the fireworks are either round or flat in the sky. After Nazuna finds a small glass marble, she, Norimichi and Yusuke compete in the swimming pool race. Yusuke wins and Nazuna asks him to go on a date. Nazuna packs a suitcase and plans to leave home. Yusuke bails on the date and Nazuna is taken home by her mother. Norimichi throws the marble, wishing for luck and causing it to rewind time. Back when the race occurred, Norimichi wins this time around and Nazuna asks him on a date. They head to the train station, but are caught once again by Nazuna's mother and her fianc. Norimichi learns that the fireworks are flat and is aware he is in an alternate timeline. He wishes for another chance to escape with Nazuna. He throws the marble from a lighthouse and reverses time again. He helps her elude the family and board the train. They are caught again by the others. When Yusuke pushes the two off the balcony, Norimichi uses the marble once again, wishing for no one to see them. Time jumps back again and the train takes a different route, leaving the two in the same town encapsulated in a glass dome. After a pyrotechnician uses the marble as a leftover firework charge, it explodes in the sky. After seeing the future within the shard, Nazuna and Norimichi embrace. The next day, the school notices the absence of Nazuna and Norimichi.

I immediately became a fan of Shinkai's work, along with any other authors that are inspired and/or influenced Shinkai's craft. Enter Fireworks, an anime film originally released last year in Japan, and just finished making its premiere theatrical run in the U.S..

Fireworks' marketing in the U.S. highly emphasized the film having the involvement of Genki Kawamura, a producer that was also involved with Shinkai's latest film, Your Name. This alone was enough to attract myself and many other anime film enthusiasts towards Fireworks. As with my positive experience with 5 Centimeters, I walked into Fireworks with no expectations, looking forward to what the film would offer.

The film centers around Norimichi and his friends, who are debating whether fireworks are round or flat when looked at from the side. After Norimichi and Yusuke compete in a swim race against each other, Nazuna, an introverted girl that Yusuke has feelings for, asks him to watch the fireworks with her later that evening. However, Yusuke later decides to watch the fireworks with his friends in order to end their debate on the shape of fireworks, effectively ditching Nazuna. Norimichi later encounters Nazuna, learning that she has to move to another town. After walking with her, Norimichi sees Nazuna get forcibly taken away by her mother, and what follows is a story revolving around time travel, humor, and a budding relationship between Norimichi and Nazuna.

I have problems with my rings as well. I'm not sure if it's affected by the different watch faces though. From what I've gathered it seems that the fireworks show immediately when the goal is achieved and the notification pops up. So I have to be very quick and look at my watch the moment the notification is received. If I check the notification when its resting in the notification center I wont get the fireworks.

I just got the new Series 6 too, and having the issue with my fireworks animation not being consistent. I try to use different faces, and never get all 3 rings! The stand one i get most of the time. Yesterday, using CA face, i got only stand one. Today using Utility, completed 2 so far, and no rings! Please suggest what is going on. I have the latest software. My first generation worked better! Alwaysngot the animation.

Parents need to know that Fireworks is an anime teen romance that's available both dubbed in English and in the original Japanese, with subtitles. Made by the producers behind the very popular anime film Your Name, Fireworks follows two teens who end up repeating the same day over and over again thanks to a magical orb. Expect a couple of kisses and a few suggestive comments and jokes, mostly at the expense of the teens' attractive school teacher. Language includes a few insults and comments like "pissed off," "damn it," "what the hell," "stupid," etc. A minor character is portrayed as the town drunk (he's shown drinking and acting inebriated). Although it's fairly common in anime for girls and young women to have exaggerated features, the film's focus on a main female character's body and beauty (as well as her role as a "damsel in distress") could be interpreted as stereotypical or even sexist. On the other hand, the movie also offers messages about being selfless, helping those you care about, and showing people you love how much they mean to you. FIREWORKS tells a familiar story with a teen twist: Norimichi (voiced by Ryan Shanahan in the English-dubbed version of the film) has a crush on Nazuna (Brooklyn Nelson), but so does his louder, arrogant best friend, Yasuke (Aaron Dalla Villa). When the boys compete in a pool race and Norimichi is too distracted by Nazuna's presence to win, she ends up asking Yasuke out on a date. But it's the day of an annual festival in the town, and Yasuke would rather hang out with the other boys, who have an ongoing debate about whether fireworks are round or flat. So Norimichi ends up spending time with Nazuna and discovers that a mysterious ball she found by the sea has magical properties -- to rewind time and replay the day again, so he can be the one she asks out on the date. Norimichi continues to use the magical orb again and again until his day with Nazuna is practically perfect, while Yasuke and the other boys continue to fight about fireworks in anticipation of the festival's big display.

Despite beautiful visuals of fireworks, flowers, beaches, and fluttery first love, this teen romance suffers from an uneven, unnecessarily convoluted plot and some iffy stereotypes about women. There are a few jarring, unexpectedly crude comments -- like about the teacher's "bouncing" breasts, a girl being a "dog," and jokes about betting over a woman's panties -- that will throw some viewers off. And then there's the constant focus on Nazuna's leggy, long-haired, wide-eyed beauty. She doesn't have much of a distinct personality other than being sweet Norimichi's ideal crush. While he gets to relive the day to win her over, woo her, and even save her from a forced move with her mother and new stepfather, she has little agency over the proceedings except to encourage and excite Norimichi. She may not be a pixie, but Nazuna sure is a dream girl.

Fireworks, Should We See It from the Side or The Bottom? Is a coming-of-age romance that also doubles as a metaphysical time travel fantasy. A group of teenage boys a bored at summer school. For a moment, instead of letting off hormonal steam in the direction of their attractive teacher, they are distracted with news of the local fireworks festival. Are the fireworks flat or round? Only seeing them from a higher angle will prove which is true.

The music and songs by Satoru Ksaki are delightful, too. Originally released in 2017, the home video release has taken a while to get here but, now that it is, you can let it wash over you without worrying too much about whether the story makes much sense. One problem viewers should be aware of going in is that the story is a bit more mature than a lot of the anime we get here and some of the attitudes presented by the teenage boys to the female characters would require correcting if you saw them happening in real life. 006ab0faaa
